desperate need help

hi all

i'm not sure whether tis is the right plave to post this, but i'll try anyways.
just recently i got the urge back to play TTD, so i started searching the internet for the game and found this great site. So i have just downloaded the game, but i can't use it. I'm aware that i need to use some kind of Patch to use the game since i'm usinge Windows XP.
But the problem is that i doesn't understand anything of this. I have downloaded the TTDpatch 2.0, but don't know where to save it on my harddisk, and i don't know how to use it. I had been playing the game with the patch on i think, but then again i don't think i have...so i deleted everything and started from scratch.
So now i have just downloaded the game again, and therefore i'm begging for your help, since i haven't got a clue what to do...
