Electric trains only work on monorail tracks?

Post by ShadowB »

I'm not sure if this is a TTD Patch issue or a vanilla TTD one. I've recently gotten my first electric engine, and it turns out that I can't build them on standard rail tracks! This new engine has enabled me to build the whole monorail system, and the vehicle can only be built on monorail train depots.

Is this intended by the patch? I'd like to have electric trains run on normal rail tracks, as in Transport Tycoon, but I can't seem to find an option to restore that. (I have the electrifiedrailway option OFF).

Any ideas? :?

you need to set some switches:
unifiedmaglev
electrifiedrailways

and add graphic for electric rails

Thanks, but which value should I set unifiedmaglev? 1, 2 or 3? (currently set to 3)

Oh, and another thing. Trains that used to have two heads (one at the front and one at the back) now only have a single head at the front, not generating the speed stated in the engine's specs. For example, the second double diesel engine (the one that can carry 6 or so bags of mail) can only reach 167 km/h with a single head rather than the indicated 201 km/h.

You need to use "Cht: ResetVehicles", you must have started your game with electrifiedrailways on but later turned it off.

That's right, Patchman. I had disabled the option earlier, during my game. Resetting the vehicles really helped, and now electric trains run on standard tracks as normal.

Thanks a bunch all of you! :D
