Nighty Builds - Wrong pathfinding?

Post by FlipFlipsen »

Hello Forum,

I noticed, that if you use switches, so your train can use different directions, the train refuses to use certain directions.

On the picture, the train refuses to go along the red line, the green line will work.
I tried to demolish the switch and put a new one there, but the same result.
Also if you put in a waypoint, the same result.
Also at the last nighty build, there are again streets builded behind the busstations.

with regards, Flip.

I really think someone should write a basic guide, or even an FAQ. I might just do that sometime.

As an answer to youre question... I don't know what to say... You seem to have no idea what you are doing.

The train will go in the direaction it's orders tell it to. Orders are 90% of all train control, though it's the easiest to master. Klick the train to open the status window, and klick the orders button (Hover over the butons to find whitch is whitch) and in the new window, what does wht is not missunderstandable. Order the train to go between your two stations.
Alcohol is not the answer, it just makes you forget the question.

I don't know what you mean. If a train has orders and you order it to go to the depot it will go there. A savegame might help :)

Anyways, I renamed this topic and moved it to OpenTTD Problems.

Hello,

I know about orders, but if i tell the train to go to the depot, the train refuses to go there. The train doesn't use the switch. even if i tell her to go to the depot.

I will sent a savegame next time.

why not put the depot closer to the main track and get rid of the checkpoint and just have the orders straight to the depot, and have the train go along his way?

Why don't you just send a savegame right away?

Hello guys,

Here i send a savegame, so you can see, that the train never reaches Bestezwaag Slidings.

So, there is something wrong with the pathfinding.

The nighty build i use is: r516b (2004-11-06)

regards, Flip.

I'm not sure whats wrong, but that savegame doesn't load for me. I'll investigate into it further.

Hi,

I do not understand. At my computer, the train goes from

LOWER UGEEST to BESTEZWAAG VALLY, and it never goes to BESTEZWAAG SLIDINGS

At the screenshot you can see, that I also cannot sent the train to the depot.

Hi, I downloaded the last nighty build OpenTTDr532b(2004-11-09).

I started a new game, and I have the same problem as i wrote before, wrong pathfinding.

If I setup the same route in openTTD 0.3.4 the pathfinding is oke.

Hello again,

Now I turned off the 'new algorithm for train pathfinding', and yes, now everything works fine.

Thanks a lot.

Regards, Flip.
