Using Buoys in OpenTTD 14+

Post by WhereDidTheTrainsGo? »

Hello everyone!

Changes to ship pathfinding in the latest version seem to make buoys unnecessary, at least for navigation. The only other use for them I am aware of is to limit the pathfinder's load on the game. Does this still apply to OpenTTD 14, and if so how should they be spaced? I would also be interested in finding other practical uses for buoys.

Buoys are now basically waypoints for ships. You don't need to use them for general navigation, but they are still useful when you want a ship to take a specific path.
