Back to the topic - it will be very nice to play fron 1830 from standart game, but this will posibly need overworking of game speed - current normal/fast is not so ideal, slow/normal/fast/veryfast will be ideal.

the problem is that the fast speed is as slow as the normal one on some PCs.
Too many kids and teenagers have smoked or tried marijuana. If you haven't, copy and paste this onto your sig.

Then use Photoshop or Paintshop or Gimp.

You are right. At least the faster is under Linux without any window manager loaded. Just X with a console.

Why is no one thinking of planes in 1830? You could rope two or three hot air balloons together and suspend a passenger compartment between them and have steam-powered propellers!

:D
Some French guy tries to invent a steam powered balloon, but to do that, he had to improve the steam locomotive, so he invented a way to add water to it without having a turning wheel, but only using the pressure from the boiler. Today we know this as the injector pump and it was added to virtually all steam engines, yet the balloon never worked, but you are right about steam powered balloons and you picked the right century, but somehow I have a feeling that you didn't know that :P

Haha, horses as locomotives. I want to see it done just to have vehicles not expire and try and have horses pull around a train of the P54 looking passenger coaches.

I saw animated vehicles elsewhere on the forum, is this possible for OTTD aswell? Because then I can make a 'walking' horse! :P

And are you going to make a mythical version as well? I mean like pegasus for air transport and unicorns for land transport?

I really think it's way too early.
Do you realize that from 1830 to 1850-60 It will be just about SShips
and horse pulled wagons?
After that we have some of the first american trains, but still
consider how long 1950 - 2000 takes... Making the game 4 times
longer would result in somewhat of a bore i think. From 1920+
the transport technology really evolves fast, but before that
it's quite calm...

There were canals too, don't forget that. Narrow canals were the mass transport of their day.

oh thats right. Not all over the world was the building of canals that popular...

So we've got ferries and trains and horse-pulled wagons.
