Depends on where you live. Here in sweden, many new houses are heated by city wide networks of hot water lines and a central heating facility. But there is still a need for chimneys or at least ventilation in/outlets on the roof.

They don't use chimney's for that. There are little exhaust grids on the sides of the houses next to the boiler. Thats where the CO(2) escapes. This day and age chimeys are un-used unless you're old fashioned and like a fire in the hearth.
As such newer houses don't come with chimneys, and in warmer climes (i.e. the tropics = tropical set) you don't want chimneys at all.

atleast here new houses still come mostly with chimneys and only in some expensive mini towns for rich people near Vlinius Kaunas or Klaipeda people get central warming but those houses are family houses and no flats.

If you had put chimneys on the buildings, this sort of arguement wouldn't happen, because everybody can accept a house having chimneys of some sort.

Chimneys = visualy accepted by everyone
No chimneys = perceived as an error by some

Therefore I suggest adding chimneys.

We have a fireplace, but no chimney. (It (the fireplace, not the chimney) burns propane, instead of wood.)

Farm

Post by Ben_Robbins_ »

Ive modelled the farm, although its not very suited to being cut up and mvoed around at the moment, so ill try and sort it out so it can be. I havn't done all the un-seeable section either, so i cant get all the 4 rotational shots yet. But this is what i have so far.

Looks great, Ben... although I would make the tractors look a little bit more "used", if you know what I mean... rust, dirt and so ;).

The roofs and walls also look also a little bit "boring". Try to use more various colors/shadings.

Some silos (maybe on another tile? So all the ground sprites can be mixed up?) would make it look more modern.

You farm is beyond anything I would ever expect. Magneficient, brilliant and other superlatives. Just, how much time did it took to you to make it?

Cheers,

Red*Star - Yeah i need to stick some mud on the tractor wheels. I was thinking of putting some silos behind the center building, maybe a handfull, its already 4 by 4 squares, so i think i cant go bigger. I could increase the contrast on the roof, but i dunno about the walls. Ive tried to make a mix between old 'cottagey' farming, and modern 'buisinessy' style farming, by having the buildings look somewhere between functionally based, and assthetically based.

Gorr3 - Probly spent too long on it, i worked on it most of the day yesterday, probly summed up to 9, 10 hours, but i spent a while playing around. I have way tooo much free time...

Some new things.

First: Two refrigerator wagons. They also come with grey roofs.

A heavy loader (?)

Two water towers, one modern and one older. The modern one might be a bit too tall.

Someone talked about snow on the rail, so I made a plow.
Image

Lastly, a RF-16 Sharknose with booster unit.

Ben_Robbins_ : Very Nice farm. But I don't think it will age well. Specifically the tractors are a bit too modern for 1950 (or even earlier for peeps who go back to 1920's). Only a minor quible though. The rest is excellent.

How about different types of farm? I'd class that as a Welsh farm (compact, stone buildings etc) - Also pass for English.
i.e. this is more typical of a mid-west farm (from my travels over there) Image
Grain silo, metal barn etc. I don't know much about other farms (e.g. mediteranen).
Just an idea. ;)
