Re: Industrial Stations Renewal (v 0.6.0 available!)

Post by Sanchimaru »

There will be a road crossing, that one is done :) What I need most currently is pictures of road vehicle entryways to harbors or industrial complexes, to use them as a reference. I had no luck looking for them, so if anyone can provide me with one, that will help!
I need it for a connection between the regular roads and the station (to make it look as if the trucks could really enter)

Can't there be made some code that wraps a fence around the station, so you can use that fence to make an entrance?

Note that all of these pictures are from container terminals.

*removed tags and maybe if you try them in a new window or tab they will work?
(the weird thing is they work fine with me)

here is the link from the site where i found these pics.

> wallyweb: but in your link I can only see regular houses doors, metal sliding doors, and some toll gate barriers like the one we already have in the set ?( I was thinking about something bigger, like a gate with some entryways for trucks. In fact, the structure is what I am most interested in seeing.

> Hertog-Dixi: thanks, but I can't see any of those pictures ?(

Thanks everyone for the quick help! I hope we can find a good picture soon :)

Hotlinking protection. Disable Referrer: headers or force-refresh after you get the 1x1 GIF image.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Hmm ... I guess nobody thinks these gates are worth photographing when there are much more interesting things beyond them. To be honest, most of the ones I have seen are really quite simple. The buildings are about the size of a parking lot toll booth. They are placed to one side of a regular road, entry or exit side, it doesn't matter. Another configuration is where the booth is located between the entry and exit roads. On rare occasions, instead of the booth, there might be a small one story office building that houses the security staff for the facility.

> wallyweb: Actually you have just given me a great idea! hint: I'm going to use some sprites from the old industrial stations that haven't still been re-used in the renewal :D I also have some pictures that Chicago Rail Authority sent me yesterday (a forum member called like that, not such an institution)

Ah yes... Chicago Rail Authority's toll booths... :D He sent me the sprites some time ago when I was working on drive-through road stops for OpenTTD. They would be ideal for a harbour entrance. :)

I had forgotten about that, M... Not sure that even I still have those GFX... lol

What S was referring to was a link of pics of the Port of Los Angeles, which I believe is the largest port in the US (though I'm sure others will be quick to correct me if I'm mistaken on that point).

No i haven't, only been a member of these forums a week, so never posted in them for stuff like that. But if you think my screenshots are good please point me in the direction of a screenshot contest and i will have a go.

That station in the first screnshot above has now got bigger resulting in this,

Dear masters of superior excellence,

At first my compliments for your outstanding artwork!

At second I'm afraid I found a small bug. I think the two directions of the road tiles are mixed up. As you can see in the screenshots the underlying track (visible when transparant) points in the wrong direction. Like this it's not possible to lay a road along sloped land.

Kind regards,
Smaug
