but they have made the cardinal mistake of painting trains white....
That'd be because they are operating the same franchise and rolling stock.
stagecoach blue like the sheffield trams woudl have been better
The local line fleet will be painted in blue, 3 class 153s already carry the blue livery, it will work on a similar basis to the SWT livery system. White = Long distance, Blue = Locals. In theory the supertram should be red in line with class 455s on inner suburban trains in London now carrying red stagecoach livery.

Thats because they keep breaking down...

It really was. What happened to it after that is another thing altogether though.

It'll be a shame to see the GNER-liveried 91s going... - I thought they looked much smarter and better. I even preferred 'one's pastels to NXEA! But that's just my opinion - and many other people hated it.
The NatEx livery on the HSTs does actually dirty very easily - Look at the exhaust marks on top of the cab! Pic.

Have to say, I think the new Nat Ex livery is really rather dull and boring. Trains should aim to be eye catching as the side of the train is the TOC's best advertising space.
My experience of East coast is good, the staff at Leeds and York are really friendly, local people, and the trains are comfy, i have never been on GNER, never really wanted to, but if East Coast gets the new route they want (Harrogate - Knaresborough (my town) - York - London) I will be using it a lot, just to make sure the route stays.
The website's a thing of beauty, and it's one of the easiest i have ever used, As I have a visual impariment, it also works well with all screen readers (The National Rail one fails quite often).
Fares are ok, i s'pose, took a service to Wakefield the other day and it didn't break the budget.
That's my 2p worth, hope this helps
Edit: Yes, the livery leaves a lot to be desired, but at least it's not so vibrant as some of the others (Transpennine Express)

Well, I just got an advance ticket from Leuchars to London for the meet for £9.95 on their website, with my return leg being £12.90. £22.85 return to London is pretty good, direct service, lovely jubbly. Hopefully the train journey will be a pleasant one.
I think National Express should get the public to design the new colours of there trains because it does not look good on the trains now, so i was thinking do you all think the Nat Exp should do new designs for there trains.

Wow! Good booking. I paid £70 London-Dundee return the other week, with a railcard. I have to say I do like National Express, its just the livery that sucks. I like their advert for the advance fares with the Hornby class 91, they should develop that as their advertising theme. The trains remain good too, but then a change of name of course is unlikely to change much!!
The SWT 158s don't seem to get that dirty. Usually they look about as clean as the 442s.
From what I see they get cleaned at Fratton depot every two mornings, are rather comfy to sit in if a bit minimal on the leg roomage. Shame that can't be said for the seats on a a 444/450, they feel like someone stole the stuffing and put it into the 158's
