Well, this monday i first gonna visit the themepark you NEED to visit if you are in The Netherlands; De Efteling :P

But in october (herfstvakantie) i could take a look :)

Here is the old Metro converted to Randstadrail:
(It normaly runs on the Metro (third rail) and the SnelTram (Catenary)) They removed it 3rd rail capability because of a new safety device, wich you can see by the wheels at the fron (White thing) the yellow thing at the wheels are fitted to avoid that the train is driving away on its own)

Don't go to the Carnaval Festival. I've been there a few months ago and still got that tune in my head :P

To bad that De Vliegende Hollander isnt finished yet; and besides that Caraval Festival and Monsieur Canibal are both of those tunes you dont get out of your head. But Villa Volta has got one of the best music i ever heard in a themepark 8)

RandstadRail is now testing with teh metrotrains, the trams already testing the track; here some pictures; (The ZUB system was still down though; it runs around the 70/80kmph)

Image
(Track on the right goes to the new tunnel wich will be opened in 2008, offcourse wit better rails on it :P) The track wich the metro comes from will be removed, the building at the background are the "Delftsepoort" and the "Milleniumtower" in Rotterdam near Rotterdam CS.

Image
Image

There will be 2 so called Type`s T`s (or RSR-T) in one train; there are 11 of them available. (They are rebuilded to use the ZUB system; they cant operate on the original metrotracks. The new Bombardier trains can, but are scheduled to deliver around januari 2008.

Erm... Tilburg? It looks like a modern "Noord-Brabant" type after all ^_^

BTW, the livery of the new 'randstad-rail' train looks like it only has a primer-layer and a few stickers... Not very attractive at all! :(

Yes its Tilburg; and yes the Metro has just got some new stickers and other stuff on it; but those are temporary after the new one`s arrive;

I also saw that Connexxion is using a "PROTOS" for the Valeilijn. (Ede-Wageningen-Amersfoort) They have bought 5 EMU-2.

I also saw this picture: http://www.hslzuid.nl/hsl/Images/eu.bre ... -11231.jpg

In 2020 there should be also a HighSpeed Trans to Germany. We currently building the Amsterdam - Rotterdam - Brussel one. So maybe in the future also a speeding ICE in our little country?

Hmm, those trains look interesting! These will add a bit of variety to the dutch train-stock. However, it's unfortunate that they look so alike all other European stock. The Dutch Railways are 'blending' with the rest of Europe, whereas I always found it very interesting that the dutch stock was totally different from the rest of Europe... :(

I thought that the VIRM (Newest Bi-decker) was the last one, designed by the NS. But i still hope that there are tiny things who still say; Hi i am a dutch train.

Connexxion and Arriva (and soon Veolia) are using "Out of the box" trains.

But Connexxion is the first one who are using the PROTOS (As far i can read on the site of the builder)
03/2006 /1
Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau supplies new PROTOS regional train to Connexxion
The Dutch transport company, Connexxion, has ordered 5 of the newly developed PROTOS regional trains from Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau.
The PROTOS is an electrically or diesel-electrically powered low-floor regional train with a top speed of 160 km/h. It can be built in 1, 2, 3 or multiple sections, and the design is flexible with regard to the type of power unit and internal fittings.

This order was for 2-section electric trains. They will be put into service on the Ede-Wageningen-Amersfoort route from September 2007.

The PROTOS rolling stock concept allows great diversity in the design of the interior.
In each carriage, there is an extended low-floor area. The interior is free from barriers, and can be freely configured for different uses.

Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau's new PROTOS train will be presented to the public for the first time at the international "InnoTrans" railway vehicle exhibition in September 2006.

I hope so too...

The private companies don't have the money to design their own trains, which is unfortunate. Taking over 2nd-hand trains from NS isn't an option either. Plan-V is from the mid-1960's (unreliable, uncomfy, not modern and expensive to maintain) and the NS doesn't really have other local line stock on their hands for sale...

Too bad. If there are new NSRM orders I hope as well that there will be unique designs again.

They got the (if i am correct) 9 Railhoppers wich where in service for around 11 years when they where replaced by old Plan V`s in 2005. (They had a lot of technical problems though; the DM90 has got some technology of it in it.)

These ones:

And the first and only one with wheelchair lift buildin: http://www.anpfotoarchief.nl/downloadpi ... p?id=59903

(And offcourse the DM90 Buffels Diesels)

Admit, the Railhoppers were totally crap. They set themselves on fire occasionally :? And the DM90's are all in use... These were ment to replace the old 'Blauwe-Engelen' (Angel Wings) and DE3 on the local lines in the East and North-East... I guess only Syntus still uses a few among their new 'Lint' trains... But soon these DM90's will be replaced by 'Lint' trains as well.

The DM90 isn't an option for the private companies though. All the lines are electrified or they already have 'out-of-the-box' stock.

I'm really eager to see what trains are going to run on the Utrecht-Baarn line and the Utrecht-Rhenen line when these are privatized :)

Hmmmm - probably the best NS would ever do - 'cos they're rubbish for wheelchair transport at the moment.

Hmm, i am wondering;

Image

This one was proposed a few years ago for the Den Haag-Breda line:

Image
The E1 MAX Shinkansen :? Yea, Right...

Also, that map... It's pure rubbish! The lines aren't in different colours. It's just to impress and confuse. A very 'persuading' desing though (^_^)

About the 'Railhopper'... The 3+2 seating arrangement is good, but the profile of the train was too wide... Another mistake in the design of the 'Railhopper'. :evil: It's just a not well considered train at all! Just a too wide, smoking, expensive, technological heap of yellow. At first I had high expectations of this train, untill it stalled in the middle of nowhere and smoked the engine.

6 trains will leave from Amsterdam Centraal within an one hour;
1 to Paris (Thalys)
1 to Brussels (Will replace the Red and Yellow ICM + NMBS Engine)
2 to Rotterdam and
2 to Breda.

Also 8 times per day a train from The Hague / Den Haag to Rotterdam, Breda and Brussels

Hmm, sounds like a busy timetable to me.

Besides that; does anyone knows the name of the new brand they are gonna use on the national tracks? (On there website states they released a brand in 2005; is this just the HSA brand or something else?)

Hmm, nice view btw:
