also couldnt the pylons just simply be placed on the opposite side of the track? that way you could see the signals.

The Dublin Area Rapid Transit system, built less than 50 years ago, has 1500v overhead.Bjarni wrote: 1500 and 750 V are actually outdated DC voltages, that is used only for historical reasons (like now that they have been there for 50+ years, it's too expensive to replace) or security reasons for 3rd rail "catenary" railroads.
I'm new here, and not too familiar about what has been discussed or not, but would something like an "overlay mode"/"blueprint" be possible or help to see if you leave a rail unconverted.
Sorta like the "transparent buildings" mode, but instead it temporary converts the graphics of each type of track to a certain color/graphic. (and maybe have other companies roads/rails be different, and city owned roads be another.

such an overlay does not exist yet, but to distinguish between your track and those of competitors you can use the map (F4) and click on that man to have the map show different colors for each company.Madrone wrote:I'm new here, and not too familiar about what has been discussed or not, but would something like an "overlay mode"/"blueprint" be possible or help to see if you leave a rail unconverted.

If you would use an overlay for each type of track you would run out of colors very quickly though... 8 firms x 4 track-types = 32 colors :s
You dont need it for other companies; it would mainly be for construction purposes, because of how difficult it can be to tell the difference bewteen normal and electric rails especially. If you would use an overlay for each type of track you would run out of colors very quickly though...
Only talking 4 track types + 1 for other companies (ie. "not owned by me") + 1 for town roads ("owned by noone") for a total of 6, i think.

Four Rings for the Railway tracks under the sky,
Plus one for the Bitumen and roads that groan,
Eight for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Tycoon where the Money lies.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Tycoon where the Money lies.
Hm, what I meant to say was that there need only be a maximum of 9 colours for an overlay: 8 for the companies and 1 for the local authority. Normal railway, monorail and maglev tracks only need an overlay in deserts or mountains since the company fence IS coloured and the tracks do have pretty unique appearances. Only electrified rail and company/LA roads need coloured overlays all the time.
