I live in scotland and go to university, although my exams are done there are some still going and i presume the english university's are the same, whereby they finish before the schools.krtaylor wrote:Oracle, is university over yet in England?

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry for the absolute lack of posts over the last few months - university is extremely time-consuming and I rarely have time to even look at the forums. However, I have just finished my exams, which means I have very little work to do until the start of October! (I'm still at university for the next couple of weeks, though, which means I will still have a few other activities on, and won't be able to press on with the set(s) as much as I could otherwise.)
I will hopefully be able to press on with coding some stuff in the not-too-distant future, and particularly those beautiful stations! (However, I don't actually think any other stations are complete and ready to be coded yet - I may be wrong, but I haven't got or seen any complete station spritesets; for example, I don't seem to have a spriteset for the Michigan Central station.
Anyway, I'll try and get back into the swing of things, and maybe make a few small releases before TTDPatch 2.5 comes out, if that's appropriate.
If anyone can think of anything that needs updating/changing/fixing/adding except new locomotives or stations, please post it here to jog my memory. Thanks.

Have you seen the latest bug reports on the release thread? Pages 22 and 23: http://tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=8754&start=420Oracle wrote: If anyone can think of anything that needs updating/changing/fixing/adding except new locomotives or stations, please post it here to jog my memory. Thanks.
I have now, thanks - I will take a look at them but can't promise much: the Big Boy works fine here and nothing at all springs to mind whilst the ETDs are something like 4/8 long and can't be any shorter due to problems with very short vehicles in the patch. The ETDs are no longer than cabooses, though, and I really don't fancy adding ETDs to each wagon as it's a lot of work - not impossible, though.White Rabbit wrote:Have you seen the latest bug reports on the release thread? Oracle, good to see you back.
The ETD thing isn't 'that' complicated if you have one pecific override for each cargo, you don't need "every" livery to have one. That said, the same boxcar or tank car will be at the end of all your trains...

So glad to see you back, Oracle! How did exams go?
There's quite a pile of train sprites waiting to be coded, but I expect you know that.
Other coding issues - the US Town Names GRF still has problems. There are also some Patch issues, but these are being explored in the context of the Spanish and Dutch sets.
There was a new set of signals which came out, which were similar to US bullseyes and better than ours, any interest in reworking the signals? We also need PBS variants, though I've been trying to get someone to draw them for a long while with no success.
DanMacK, any chance of getting more sprites from you now we have our coder back?

It's a possibility... but I've got a few other projects I want to clean up first before getting more US Stuff started.

Hey guys,
After looking at my trolleys in game via the MBTA rapid transit set Beta I think I might need to revisit the shading on some of the roofs to make the different models more destinctive. I know there were graphical problems with trying to make the current sprites articulate and I think the problem might be resolved by making the center sections independant peices. This would be similar to the Japanese tram sprites I've seen in someone's signature here and would have happened with the Type 8 sprites sitting on my desktop eventually anyway. I'll hopefully be able to tweak the sprites by the end of the week and post them here. B&P station might also be finally making its completed appearence here as well sometime this weekend along with the completed front view of South Station and the beta of the rear view
.
My new job has freed up significant time in my personal life to get back into TTD as well as my lovely family.
I worked on the 3d models of my LRVs and Kinkis for an office project (Yay for transit oriented development!) so I might try to export those and see how the results look to the existing trams which lack fine detail in the shading.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that! And just in time for Oracle's return. The US set may get a tram system this summer after all.
