Awesome work ... great detail in the building phases.

Generally - F40 was a little to low. These locos were/are as high as some double deckers - yet in a game they are not taller then amfleets.

Uzurpator, looking at your version of the F, there were still a few prototype inaccuracies that were bugging me.

1. The 'boxy' looking shape near the back of the roof - Makes it look like an FT, not an F7
2. No visible fans, just a grlle looking thing. F7's have 4 cooling fans and a dynamic brake fan (if present)
3. Side grille should be 2 px high, it's not visible enough
4. If doing Santa Fe, carbody should be lighter, it was stainless steel, not drab
5. Nose looks too 'blunt', not slightly angled like the prototype
6. Red band didn't extend around the back of the unit, it was solid grey

That said, here's a revision based both on yours and mnorman's broadside to give a more accurate representation. Your diagonals and verticals were also modded a bit.

That's the length the original ones were as well.

re: the F40PH... an F40 is no higher than a GP40-2, the Bi-levels are too high.

Oh good grief. I like the relative balancing and proportions the way they are now. The more we mess with them, the more unbalanced they get. We'll never get them exactly right, but they look nice as they are. I say, leave 'em all alone, and just add more liveries to the same basic shapes.

Dan: Depends which bilevels you speak of ^^

Superliners are infact too tall and will be chopped a bit soon.

The rest is more or less correct. F40 PH atm is too low though.

as for f7

1. My bad - I've drawn the fans from memory
2. ?
3. That would make it 1/3 height of the sidewal when it was about 1/4 in reality. Youa re either going to under or over draw it.

Actually - the grille should be 1.5 px, the trucks and running gear 2.5 px.

4. Shading - it looks prototypical in the TTD world this way.
5. Looking from above that is what you would see. Besides - yellow painted light was dead straight - not angled as in your loco ;).
6. Is that _really_ so important?

F40 =>My Screw-up, they're about 8" higher over fans than an SD40-2 :? Keep the 1px higher version you drew. Pilot looks a bit odd though in the head-on view'

2. directly relates to 1.

I have the same "Half-pixel height" problem in drawing Train Gifs, but I honestly think the grille looks better with 2 px instead of 1.

The yellow bar down the front was straight, yes, but the large oval "Santa Fe" logo that took up half the nose wasn't ;)

One of the silver F7B's was a bit off (only had 2 portholes)

Here's the SF F7 in both freight and passenger versions. Yes, I know it looks like on solid unit in diagonals... Take a look at a string of real life ones on that angle as well ;)

California is the place to be, especially if one wants citrus. The "fruit trees" in TTD didn't look right. Everybody knows those trains barreling out of California withthe long strings of reefers behind them are full of California oranges!

Wow! Awesome job DanMacK! That looks true to the F7 loco. :) Smoother lines then the last F7s make the ABBA setup flow quite nicely.

Ide love to see an Eastern F7 though.

Well, I only partially deserve the credit, as it was uzurpator who drew them initially, I'm just the painter/tweaker.
