Looking for parameter descriptions of the newgrfs, I just noticed that your bananas grfs don't come with a readme file. Acceptable readme file names for bananas are readme.txt or readme.pdf. Maybe you can again include a readme in the upcoming versions of these newgrf?

The Readme file is HTML. What's wrong with that? At the least, you could include a link.

planetmaker, I've just looked through http://bananas.openttd.org/ but can't see where the readme.txt is made available? I imagine in-game the text is displayed if the file exists? I can't check now.

Either way, if this is the way the online content download works, then I also recommend we conform to it.

The readme is neither linked from bananas nor displayed ingame. But it would be included in the tar which is distributed. Thus in principle players could unpack it and read it then. And there of course always might be the possibility that OpenTTD one day gains the possibility to display a readme.txt...

In any case, if you have it, you can easily just add it to a zip (grf+readme+changelog+license if you like) you upload to bananas and you'll be fine.

Right, although I've never uploaded the GRFs as zips, always as GRFs.
I'll upload the full packages next time, I hadn't realised it was an option.

Just mind the restriction on the file names. It must be license.txt, readme.txt and changelog.txt. Alternatively the extension pdf is permissible.

The japanese Train set features the EF81, and says that it can be refitted to the Cassiopeia (train) colours. But after i purchase the EF81, the only refit option is passenger, and even after use, no change in colour.
Is there anyway this can be fixed?

Isn't the Cassiopeia a random livery?

The Cassiopeia has become a refit in the latest version. As stated in the description, it only becomes available in 1999. From that year on, it works fine for me. Bwong, please post (or PM) a savegame if the problem is not solved.

On a side note: I have not abandoned development and work on the new tracks is still going on. Unfortunately, progress is very slow at this point, since Steven and I lack the time. But I still hope to do a major update before the end of the year.

@DanMacK: Any news from the early locos?

This is the Cassiopeia livery we have in the set:

EDIT: If you still don't have it, it's possible you are using an old version of the set. I remember that there were some versions with the Cassiopeia removed.

EDIT: Nevermind, I was able to solve the issue, I need to MAKE the train cars first, BEFORE I am able to change the livery

A quick update on the early locos. I'm trying to get back into them, and I'll start with the first locomotive type in Japan. Several different manufacturers built 10 2-4-0 tank engines, and this loco is a compliation of all of them. More to come as well.

I'm going to complete the early stuff before thinking about any redraws of the current stuff.

It'd be nice if we could eventually have a CC version of the Japan Set Trains.

Too many of us prefer the prototypical aspects of this set for this to happen.
Recolouring Japanese trains to your own styles is too much of a fantasy.

Hey DanMacK. That A-1 class looks really good.

The time I can and want to devote to coding is quite limited at the moment. But I expect that I will be able to update the trains some time in October, depending on how many sprites are done by then. And then a new version along with the new Japanese tracks and a few other updates should be on the horizon.

Krtaylor, could you collect the new sprites on the development website, as you did before?

@Nekomaster: I have to agree with Steven. But I want to point out that we have all our commuter EMUs not only in CC but refittable to either the first CC or any player color of your choice. 8)

Yes, I will collect the sprites, though there will be a delay as I'm having computer problems at the moment. Don't worry, though, I won't forget, and will do it as soon as I can.
