Ameecher wrote:A long time of no playing but I have had this game going for a couple of weeks. It's 1973 and this a shot of my main station and cities. The cities are so large that they have their own metro stations. This massive shot shows the 3 main cities in their entirety and it is based (losely) on the Berlin model with the S-Bahn running parrallel to heavy rail lines on the approach to the main station. Unfortunately, I can't show you the main station, as requested by the author, so you have the massive white blob in the middle. Hopefully the rest of the shot will keep you entertained.

The maze of tracks are all used with freight running on the metro lines to avoid travelling through the central station. The metro line to the west of the Mannheim was built in the last 10 years to cater for the sudden boom of Mannheim.
Well, that layout is just awesome! Good use of the space inside the city is all i can say, very very realistic setup you got going there.

*Is Envious

Cheers for posting it :)

A map, as requested by James.
The main intercity routes, operated by 11 coach trains hauled by BR103s run from Gelsenkirchen to Erfurt via Ratisbon. The longer distance suburban trains in Ratisbon run from Munich to Aachen via Ratisbon, Mannheim and Essen. Nearly all 50 trains that the company owns run through Ratisbon Hbf with the except of a handful of Erfurt to Paderbon and Erfurt to Trier trains. Hence why the main station is rather busy, all the time.

Edit: also added Erfurt station. Self explanatory really.

And 3 new ones.
1) The areas around Koblenz and Hamm. At Koblenz the layout allows trains to arrive from one direction and either carry on through the station or depart the way they came. Took me ages to work out how to do it because I don't have trains reversing at stations set to on. Hamm was intended to have a junction at both ends but funding for the line to Trier disappeared so the junction at the north end never had any use and was ripped up many years ago.

2) Bottropp. The line to here from Ratisbon is mostly double track but from here to Erfurt it is largely single. When the line is eventually electrified it is planned to double the line completely and increase service levels. This is where all the wood on the map comes to.
SCR326.png
SCR326.png (186.98 KiB) Viewed 963 times
3) Aachen. The line to Ratisbon runs through the tunnels on the right of the shot. The local branch line run by VT-08s climbs away to the left. Also running this branch line is the battery railcars that are seen in the bay platform. Metro services from Munich terminate in the sidings to the south of the station, these were originally ET-30 EMUs but are increasingly BR111 loco hauled services (ideally they would be double deckers but I'm waiting for DBSetXL 0.9 for those :( . A BR218/V160 hauled wood train passes through bound for Bottropp.

Hey you know what- is that my station under there- -if so-just show it! id like to see what you did with it. i need some motivation to finish it all off. Finishing off all the last few bits gets a little tedious!

Well if you insist! Bit of artistic license with regard to Kings Cross but well, I couldn't put the buildings where they were intended.

Edit: done a bit of blasting to allow the S-Bahn to serve more of Ratisbon.

I've never been to King's Cross so I never noticed.
Now that we can see mph's station, that screenie is magnificent. :D

mph ... a little incentive ... No supper for you until your work is done! 8)

EDIT btw Ameecher, it's not called "blasting". The politically correct expression is "Urban Renewal"!

Thank you all for the kind comments :)

Here are few shots of the increase in freight that has lead to a container train being introduced to Ratisbon. To cope with the new freight flows to Ratisbon a new, larger, container handling facility was needed at Ratisbon.

1. The inaugural container train departs from Bottrupp yard. A stored BR150 was rostered onto the train.

2. The train joins the S-Bahn lines at Essen (note the relocated station) in order to cross the city without travelling through the main station.

4. Arrival at the container yard. A VT-08 is on a crew training run (it's not lost, ok?) This yard is located between Ratisbon and Munich. The only flat land around!

5. The line to Chemnitz had a flyover built as the increased traffic to Munich means that Munich trains use this line aswell as the old lines to the tunnel and were blocking the Chemnitz line causing delays. An ICE1 from Gleisenkirchen waits to enter the main station while a BR218 climbs away to Chemnitz. Trains on this line will soon be replaced with RegioSwinger DMUs.

As usual you post nothing other than the best screens Gavin :P

Any chance of upgrading those lines over in the west (the single track ones)?

That Gavin chap you all speak of is some kind of TTD genius. I say some kind of, because he's in a league of his own.

I think he must related to Anita who said she'd emigrate and clean up in the cinema computer business in her new land. Ameecher must have emigrated to TTDX screenie land because he's cleaning up with this game.

It's only my own league because people like yourself and that lazy git Badger don't post shots anymore! ;)

Thank you everyone for the very kind comments. There might be some more shots soon, if I don't get carried away with playing the game like usual.

Too busy playing trains in real life, my good friend. Difference is, I don't control them in real life, just watch them

I don't need a silly camera, I bypassed that step and went for a real camera .
