Huh. I know UKRS2 isn't keen on hypotheticals (but we do, say, have the 5AT in the addons, or the UKRS1 65mph stock car), but equally I don't think many of us sit down in 1968 and dismantle two-thirds of our railways - to some degree, we are likely to want to play in a universe which doesn't reflect the damage done by Beeching, etc, and in particular we are very likely to end up wanting to transport the vast majority of post by railway, perhaps in some cases on high-speed pax services.lawton27 wrote:high speed mail carriages are intended to expire

Could it be set as a parameter for future releases to allow the option that it doen't expire?

Simply turn on the "Engines never expire" option in OTTD options

Re: [OTTD] UKRS2 - Public Alpha (pa 0.6) 19/09/10
This is an issue that's come up several times. I could fix it by lowering the maximum speed on the express mail carriage...
Note there is another mail vehicle coming which will affect the way mail is carried significantly.

The Class 325? I looked at the wiki...
I assume it'll be a while till anything more is coded in the add-on set.

Well, that too.
The express car really does need more of a downside compared to the later carriage though; obviously the extra length is not enough. Perhaps i'll increase the loading time...

You've discovered vehicle loading speed is a signed byte, and you're doing one of those "pickup / drop mailbags while moving coaches" we all had as a kid?PikkaBird wrote:Note there is another mail vehicle coming which will affect the way mail is carried significantly.

That would be cool if we couuld have those railway postage bag pole things that the guys in the RPO car can grab to get mail from Rural places without a station and drop the mail off at the same spot.andythenorth wrote:You've discovered vehicle loading speed is a signed byte, and you're doing one of those "pickup / drop mailbags while moving coaches" we all had as a kid?PikkaBird wrote:Note there is another mail vehicle coming which will affect the way mail is carried significantly.

A new version with the real-world colours feature available is now on Banananas. Have a go at it and let me know what you think; there's a lot of new code in there so there may be bugs, but I've tested it as much as I could.
Note that the grf uses the default rail vehicle sprite space for the recolour maps, so it's not advisable to use this set alongside the default vehicles!

Hmm... Looks great, but I always used Light Blue to represent Rail Blue, because it does have a greenish/turquoise tinge
Oh, and any chance this can also be done in the NARS?

I have download the new version (0.7) with real world colours what do I need to do now to use the real world colours rather than the company colours?

Funnily enough I always used Dark Blue for Rail Blue, and Light Blue to represent the Electric Blue of the early AL electrics...

Now when I click on set parameters with the UKRS2 pa0.7 grf selected it doesn't give me the window that it shows in Pikka's screenshot a few pages back. The parameters window is rather new, what version of OTTD are you using?SamMacca wrote:Now when I click on set parameters with the UKRS2 pa0.7 grf selected it doesn't give me the window that it shows in Pikka's screenshot a few pages back. 1. assuming (a) you don't care about the other parameters, and (b) you are using OTTD 1.0.x, or 0.7.x or similar, go to the newgrf window, select UKRS in the list, and find the parameters window. Then enter '0 0 2', apply changes and you should be good to go.
2. Download a nightly build of OTTD, this will give you the new-and-much-much-better parameter GUI. Download here: http://www.openttd.org/en/
