Well, this is my current OpenTTD (v0.6.1) game, has been quite a while (actually months :() since my last one - but recently I re-installed OpenTTD and I got easily attached to it again...

The screenshots show the game in 1991, the last years I have basically been up to optimizing tasks, like upgrading to better train engines or removing some jams here and there. :)
Image
(click on the preview to open the giant screenshot, a 5MB PNG file!)

It's on a small map, three cities only (world population circa 10,000), I'm still trying to better serve the few industries (mostly 70-80% ratings)...
The overall performance rating is 808 out of 1000.
Image

Of course, the focus is on the railways, 46 trains so far.
There's a kind of "city transfer service" (passenger, mail) for both airports.
Image

The game has no ships, since there are no oil rigs (yet?).
There's a "simulated" highway connecting the cities, but unfortunately without any traffic...

You'll certainly spot some major "uglyness" e.g. sharp 90° turns or the "tunnels may cross each other" cheat
The main junction has evolved over time, wasn't really planned at first and so doesn't go for all directions (only for those needed).
Image

My primary goal is to have fun playing and "tampering around with the construction tools"

I'm not that into building huge efficent networks - because I find that maybe a little bit too complicated for me.
Maybe, once the game has ended in 2050, I'll restart on the same map, trying to avoid the "faults", I should know better by then :))

Thought i would post a little snapshot from the scenario I made, JV's Longmap.

Seen here is Ashington station, a small-ish town on the Westland Trains Ltd. mainline from Crowborough to Lyonshall via Newbury and Durham.

A 4-4-0 Express Class locomotive hauling a fast train to Crowborough, stopping at Durham and Newbury, pauses in Platforrm 2 at the signals to allow 4-8-2 'Pacific' Class locomotive 'King George VI' to cruise through with the Crowborough-bound express, calling only at Newbury. The train hurtles through at a modest 150 km/h, before assaulting the hills to the South, through Eccles and round Durham, before calling at Newbury, the express then follows the mainline south, across the river and down the hills to arrive early afternoon in Crowborough.

wow, that's quite some network!
Have you heard about the new Cargodest branch in development? It's trying to implement passenger and cargo destination in a clean way so it can be added to the game once it's finished - see here: http://wiki.openttd.org/wiki/index.php/Cargodest
* @Belugas wonders what is worst... a mom or a wife...
<Lakie> Well, they do the same thing but the code is different.

With a meager loan of £100,000 the British, Irish & Scottish Rail has soldiered on to become a company with 3 locomotives in its service at 1927(the company was founded 1920).
As usual, this one comes from Brianetta's Standard.

The 1960's roll on, and the railway still stands(was close to going non-profitable near the end of the steam age though, with only about £12,000-£20,000 yearly net income)
