I just tried a similar test as your prob rings a bell. I got an error from locowrapper, but using locotool from the command prompt it worked fine. Worth a try.

The reason for my post is to share a little script, some of you may use a similar one but i haven't seen one posted. My brov wrote it for me while i was making coffee. It's a simple command line batch conversion script for locotool to convert .dat to .xml or vv for multiple files. Instructions are in it.
File name is Batch Convert.rar

The only thing that I can think of as the problem is that when you renamed the name in the XML you forgot to delete a space after the last 0, making it 9 characters instead of 8.
I think he is correct.

Does it work when using a folder not in My Documents, such as C:\LocoStuff or something?

you are absolutly right, i also mean that tt junkie wont have any problems if the path has no spaces, because locotool.exe is a commandline tool, so it doesnt support spaces i think

Of course you can have spaces in command line stuff. You just put 's around the command. My main reasoning is that the My Documents folders in Windows XP can be locked from other user accounts and perhaps from LocoTool as well. In some odd and unpredictable way.

I had C:\Locotool but it didn't work. I tried C:\Locotool.exe with the same result. and I also tried it in My Documents\Locotool which also doesn't work.

But I remarked that the problem exists just from the moment on, when I updated WinXP (I rarely update WinXP (because I hate it))

I don't know why it does this exactly, but I do know a workaround. When you are trying to recomplie the .XML, select both the .XML file and the folder of .PNGs. Then pick them both up by grabbing the folder, not the file. Drag that over the Locotool.exe icon and it should work.

Locotool lets you alter the existing .DAT files. These files are found in the OBJDATA folder.

Where is it: Look at the very first post of this topic. It has a link to the site where you can download Locotool.

How do you use it: (short answer)Drag a .DAT file over the Locotool.exe icon and release. This will create two things; a folder of .PNG pictures, and a file with a .XML tag. Do not mess with the folder. The .XML file can be read with NotePad or Wordpad. When done, save the.XML file and drag it over the Locotool to recreate the .DAT file.

How do you use it: (long answer)I am working on a HOW-TO guide for beginners, based on my own (lack of) experience. At some point I will post it.
BE VERY CAREFUL.

i'll second the be careful. Before u do anything make a back-up of all your .dat's for else you'll have to re-install locomotion if anything goes wrong. But apart from that its a very useful tool

The long answer is 8 pages of notes that i don't have in front of me. I merely wanted to state that I am working on the guide. No one has written one yet(that I can find).

Why are so few things labeled in the .XML file in Locotool? I have the latest version and I have to figure out the locations on my own. According to Locomotion Wiki, nearly everything is defined. Why?

P.S. Search under 'electrified roads' to find my newest work. It is a bus that runs only on tram track. More coming soon.

I am in a position to add in more variable names, but don't have time to figure it all out. A little help and it'll get done.

I came across a GUI version of Locotool and I had to format my PC last night due to a nasty virus. I was wondering if anyone has seen it and/or has a link to it.

-Thanx
