Honestly, I think that this is the best 747 I have seen.

I would love to see it included, as I think it looks so much better then the ones currently in the planeset.

As for the Purchase and running cost difference, I don't really think it matters much, as usually at the stage of the game when you have 747s available, I usually have enough money, so that I don't have to care about some differences in running or purchasing costs.

In any case, is there any movements towards including a different 747 anyway? looking at the current set, the 747 is really not very nice and a completely different style from the other planes. I thought I saw some sprites somewhere, which looked much better in my opinion...

The Irish,
in PlaneSet really there is no empty seat for new models of planes, therefore. :( I sometimes do alternative GRF files which replace some planes PlaneSet Soon I I shall code 747-8 and it will be accessible in game replacing for example Boeing Sonic Cruiser in PlaneSet
So players will have a choice what to use :)

I liked that boeing 777-200 after giving it a quick try on a random new map. didn't mind that it replaced the sonic cruiser since there's another sonic-fast plane in the planeset list

Was the Beluga ever used for anything other than transporting Airbus 380 parts?

It was indeed, according to Wikipedia:
Their primary task is to carry Airbus components across Europe ready for final assembly in Toulouse or Hamburg, but they are available for charter work as well, and have been used to carry a variety of special loads, including space station components, large, very delicate artworks, industrial machinery, and entire helicopters. (The Beluga illustrated above had been chartered to carry two complete NHI NH90s and a Eurocopter Tiger from Europe to Australia and back.)

While DaleStan successfully works above the new version PlaneSet (working in TTDPatch and in OpenTTD),
I wish to draw a set of liveries Boeing 737 (to mine of the most mass plane in the world) for the future versions PlaneSet (2.0, 3.0...) :) .
Also would like to know your opinion what liveries of airlines would like to see in game?

The new 2nd Company color is very useful for watching vehicles and recognize which service are they doing.
So besides the real life liveries, I'd love to see versions with 2 company colors for the planes :D

That would be a great feature as many companies ude more than one colour if you want to make a real life thing.

After entirely too long...

Nothing major has turned up, and the minor things have been fixed, so here it is: The much predicted (Since April 1, if not earlier) PlaneSet 1.5!

Be sure to read the readme; the PlaneSet now takes a parameter, which I won't bother to describe here.

Changes from 1.2
- Many real-world liveries (and a parameter to control them).
- Remove the flashing red from the some Chinook sprites.
- A few minor balance updates.

For those who are curious, the PlaneSet now consumes 1334 real-sprites; still well below the 8K+ allocated to planes.

krtaylor: The minimum Patch version is now 2.5 beta 5.

EDIT: Reposted 1.5 to fix two real sprites; see below.

To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

*quickly updates to planeset 1.5*
Don't normally play with planes though. :)

If you downloaded the PlaneSet from my previous post, I recommend re-downloading it here; I oopsed on two of the real-sprites, meaning nice pretty white lines where they don't belong.

This is version 1.5.1; see the release notes for 1.5 two posts up.

I've updated the website. However, I'm wondering, do we still need a separate OTTD version? Also, that version is verrrrrrry old.

Say, I'd like to update the page with pictures of all the planes. If you take a look at that page of the website

http://www.as-st.com/ttd/planes/screenshots.html

you can see what I'm after - not screenshots really, more photo-ops. Please post your best shots!

I think it would be best to leave the OTTD version for players of version 0.4.7. Although Planeset 1.2 now works with the latest nightly builds, Planeset 1.5 still requires some patches, see here. A new release ( 0.4.8 ) is imminent but this will only be a bug-fix release with no new features. I think version 0.5 will be the first version with Planeset support, so until 0.5 is released IMO the OTTD version should stay.

Edit: I've just checked your web site and on the Downloads page it still says "Release 1.2".

Is the Airbus380 freight livery supposed to look identical to the UPS freight livery?
