i would suggest you to attach the incoming line to the "south" part of the station, so the trains will be at the station earlyer than thisway.
Why do you dont use pre-signals? they are pretty good if you finally learn how to use them (it took me for a while ;) )

the first point depends on whether or not you've got "trains turn around at stations" on.
the seconds I agree :D

Korenn: i dont think it'd depend on the train turnaround setting. on this pic he has the trains going through the station anyway, hasnt he?

Pimmeh: err...pre-signaling is one of the coolest features of this game. for further details check http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/Advan ... _placement

when you have the 'turnaround' setting on, the trains don't always turn around. They only turn around if that route is shorter.
So if you make your station like you proposed, the train will enter the station, conclude that going back is good, and turns around and blocks the station entrance before going the right way.
If you, however, build it like in the screenshot, the trains will enter the station from behind, and conclude that not turning around is a better route.

errr... i dont really understand what you mean.

What i saw on the picture was that this is a RoRo station, the train goes to the upper part of the station, goes in, and comes out.
In my point of view, the inflow part should be attached to the lower part, so the goods will arrive earlyer.
On this station, what was attached, the train always have to go around, because of the one-way signals, so it doesnt matter, if the train could turn around in the station.

or am i completely misunderstanding you?

My first OpenTTD game.. I had played TTDX Original before, and I must say that OpenTTD brings the same gaming spirit in more advanced way.

Keep up the wonderful work.

EDIT: made image size 2x smaller..

Here the beginning of a new game, the year is 1961, so its 11 years old. Still have A LOT to do, but I'm activily growing three cities, providing them goods, passengers and so forth. The network in the lower-right corner is getting a little cluttered with trains. I may have to expand that area to two-two way rails in the near future.

This is from my current game. I think I've became too enamored with closely-packed setups. Originally there was just the coal station line, but I had to build a bypass around it, which also had to handle the local bus services and a passenger line.

It is now 20 years latter. The main network remains almost unchanged. Although I've now spent a billion dollars it seems on landscaping. Well ok not a billion, but every couple of years I run dry in my bank account leveling the land.

I make about 10 million a year, in 1950 dollars.

Everything seems to be going well..

Its now 2002 and things are great..

In 1996 things got tight when the demand for good exceeded the supply of raw materials, the result was the traffic jam provided
