Hey I liked Crewe. It was 25 miles down the road! Easiest meet to get to ever.
If you're looking for a heritage railway that's close to everyone, wouldn't the Great Central Railway at Loughborough be fairly in the middle?
Plus it's a univercity city, so there's always somewhere to go for "refreshments."

I'll come to that. Who wants to buy me a plane ticket?

Ah, city folk
To me, anything below 100,000 population is rural I guess growing up in a city of 2 million kind of does make me "city folk". Then again, I don't mind that tag.
Let's go for London. I understand the argument for getting out into the periphery, but to deliberately go where most people would find accessible is silly. We've had 4 Northern meets in a row - time for a Southern one.
Plus, as I said earlier, Europeans are far more likely to come to London than somewhere North. We had a great Dutch and German turnout in 2008. Let's do it again.
2007 Birmingham
2008 London
2009 York
2010 Edinburgh
2011 Manchester
2012 Crewe

London is certainly easier for me, as I can just fly straight down and then back up again. (These days, I don't have the luxury of time that I had when I was a student.) I would be happy enough for it to be London again this year.

Less than a mile from where I live. Used to volunteer there when I was younger. If there were to be a Loughborough meet, I'd be happy to lend some assistance.
That said, I do think London would be the better option, for this year at least.

m3henry!?!?!? THERE'S a name I haven't heard for a long old time. You must be what... about 15 now!?
More like 19, my dearest Worley. Though looking back at what I posted all those years ago, I almost feel ashamed of how I displayed myself.
Bleh, the past is the past. It's funny how things come around and get played again, because the old games are often the best. How life has chuntered on doing its thing.
Back on topic, anywhere in within 200 miles of London is a done deal for me. (Somewhere to park would of course be a nice, Leaving my motor at my local station hasn't been a reassuring thought.)

This here is the most valid case of all. In 2012, I was the only non-Brit to make the meet (unless I forgot someone. In that case, sorry!) and that was only because a visit to the UK was far overdue anyway and also I had someplace to stay so that I didn't visit the UK just to go to Crewe. If the meet was organised in London, flying there and spending two nights with the meet as a main attraction wouldn't be too bad. Hopefully, the Dutch would show up and teach us rowdy Northern vikings how to party

That might be quite handy if you could. I shall have a think about dates, and do the usual poll and so on at some point. I'm potentially going to be away for most of July and half of August, so I may try to aim for a date in June or late August!
