@2457: sorry you had problems, I had none, downloaded the precompiled patch pack and it works fine, did you also download the trafficlights.zip with the extra grf in? that may be stopping it. Virus-wise, sorry, kaspersky reckons i'm clean just now so no ideas there and not had a problem with Mediafire before.
regarding a dumb map... thats what this is so far, an experiment. As to how many "mainlines" arrive at the station, I had in mind a number around 15-18 possibly higher, coming in 3 groups from the 3 directions.

@petert: installed winRAR, seemed to only be able to shave 200kB to 300kB off the file size regardless of zip or rar compression and still won't attach to this post

@planetmaker: To begin with this will be a delivery station on the shorter platforms
MiracleCure wrote:This will be a drop off station for short trains (6 tile long) with the longer platforms (51 tiles long) being the removal trains
As a loading station it would work well I reckon due to the way the overflow system works, and the fact that there are 150 platforms. Arriving and waiting trains will start waiting at the front block, then fill 2nd then fill the 3rd level. Also, depending on train length, it is likely that in the time it takes 2 trains to overflow to Tier 2 ( while 2 trains are loading in Tier 1) then at least 1 of the trains in Tier 1 will leave and a space will open up for the next incoming train. We'll see how that turns out once I can get the train density up.

**EDIT Just to add, as a loading station, it is possible, with the Very large ships grf, to deliver 22 million litres of Oil in 1 tanker. So you can see there how you might need lots of platforms space to remove that lot reasonably.

Here is the previous experiment to the one above. This time it has 500 trains running through the station collecting and delivering oil.
I have set the save up with 10 tankers ready to deliver their 22 million litres each and all the trains sitting waiting. Release the tankers 1 or 2 at a time and the station should start to flow.

There are a couple of errors that affect the performance of it, a bunch of entrances are 1 tile too short and cause a jam if the station fills right up however once the system starts running through they don't cause too much grief. Similarly there are some presignal mistakes at the entrances that I now know better about.

bunch of grfs that are part of the game, again i have only currently built stations from the Industrial stations renewal so if you don't have the others it shouldnt hurt.

It's not required anymore.
And in case it's useful to know, this isn't the latest version of the pack that I released earlier, it's an older one.
I wouldn't try loading this game into that new one though, there's been considerable changes.

Yes, the new one has been posted today. The thread's been mostly left inactive while I've been working on it, except for the odd update on what patches I was including or removing.
As said though, most likely you won't be able to load this game into the new one though.
