what do you mean with 'member of his forum' as far as i saw it's only him and 'admin', and guess who 'admin' could be! :-P

Aha, I wonder how this is done... either it uses new sprites for the sloped direction, then it's a massive change. Or it is an ugly hack that somehow rotates/stretches existing sprites...

It's been described somewhere here. AFAIR it's moving columns of pixels, when vehicle's on slope.

Can't say the effect is ugly (atleast on screenshots, never seen it live). AS to whether the hack is ugly... I didn't see the code :P

Well, I regard the idea of doing it like this itself a hack, no matter how it's implemented. The game is a 2d sprite based game, so it shouldn't start rotating some sprites imo :?

Considering the stealing stuff then i can say that hacked feature code is so awful, that is not even for the developers to look at it.

I am seeing some disturbing interpretations of the GPL in this thread.

If the code is under the GPL, and the graphics also under the GPL or a similar open source license, then SS is well within his rights to publish his own build of OpenTTD whether you guys like it or not. That's the freedom of the GPL. Yes, it means people can publish things you do not agree with, but it also means that software can grow beyond community boundaries, which is a good thing.

SS's russian site provides exposure for OpenTTD in one way or another so helps the project.

You guys can laugh at him but it's all a bit immature from a neutral's perspective. The guy obviously has passion, is trying to do stuff and share it, there is a communication issue with him, and he has thus been excluded from this community. Wait 'til you guys put your heart into something and somebody pisses on your efforts, then you'll see Sergej in a different light.

Yes. But not "copy the website". The website is not under a free license.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Sergej was caused a big mess here. But that is another story.

The only issue I had when using those graphics, was that sometimes the vehicle didn't refresh its state immediately after the slope but 1 or 2 tiles after. Funny side effect! Pity I cannot find that release of OTTD and those sprites to make a fresh screenshot. I have erased them after trunk went 32bpp. Now this is discussed somewhere here, so if someone is interested he can make a search. The main point is that with extra zoom levels we need the extra views of vehicle sprites.

And mixing GPL licensed stuff with copyrighted stuff. Sergey's OTTD packs have original grfs in them as part of his 'unpack and play' policy.
Sergej wrote: In the complete set:
1 - Set of a base Graphics 8-bit
2 - Set of the basic Graphics 32-bit
3 - Music Set
4 - Installer with a choice of modes of installation
This does not help OTTD in any way, but does harm instead.

One thing I will admit. Guy has a passion. It's shame really, that there's this 'communication issue' with him.

Nice accusations but not backed up by fact. He did make (often inaccurate) efforts to credit all artists when posting screenshots here - something I notice that is not required of anybody else.

Unless you can read Russian, and can point to where he says he is the author of the source and art, then you should withdraw such lurid assertions. I'm not a fan of Sergej, but petty and baseless accusations harm both sides of any divide.

He did use non-GPL material which was the original reason behind the objections to his threads, before it devolved into him being hated and banned for his failure to comply with the will of the community.

Get the facts, write to him asking him to sort out any legal issues (such as the inclusion of non-GPL material) and ask him to be clear that openttd32 is not endorsed or supported or affiliated with the official OpenTTD project.

Beyond that, the law is on his side. I could take OpenTTD, and publish FreeTTD tomorrow with my name slapped on the menu, as long as I don't try to remove the GPL or distribute a modified version without providing the source. Nowhere in the GPL does it state that attribution is required. That's the freedom of the GPL, it keeps the software free and stops people getting into petty squabbles about who is responsible for which pixel.

I don't think he is required to say so as long as he doesn't state that his is the official webpage of the project.

The OpenTTD developers might state so in their official webpage as well as for ports they do not support, of course if they care to.

Openttd-0.6.0-osx.dmg - The Official version of assemblage OpenTTD 0.6.0 for Mac OS
OpenTTD_0600_i386.deb - The Official version of assemblage OpenTTD 0.6.0 for Debian
Official set of district maps (scenario) from version OpenTTD 0.4.8
OpenTTD_060_OS2.zip - The Official version of assemblage OpenTTD 0.6.0 for OS/2
OpenTTD_0600_Linux_i586.rpm - The Official version of assemblage OpenTTD 0.6.0 for Linux OS
And ooh.. Industrial stations renewal.. :o http://openttd32.org/forum/showthread.php?t=393
Автор набора - Sanchimaru
Дата выпуска - 16 Feb 2008
Номер версии - Version 0.5.0

This is a project to work on the original industrial stations, made by Arte Pro, Norfolksouthern, and Oz.
I am working along with Aegir and Oz (and I hope the other 2 artists join in too, but they haven't been around lately...) Eventually, Born Acorn, Zimmlock and Ben_K also joined the project, collaborating with their fantastic art.

As for the coding, after a long bracket, Maedhros gave a push to the set preparing pretty much all the basic coding, and then mart3p continued the work, adding a lot of new features.

Here are some new features:
- Full coverage for all the basic cargos for temperate, arctic and tropical climates; and some of the advanced ones (mainly PikkaBird's Industry set and the ECS)
- Compatibility between tiles and freedom to combine them
- PBS sensitive tiles: some tiles react when they detect a train entering the track. The "train shed" facility opens its doors, for example.
- Animated tiles: some tiles include animation when they detect train activity. The "overhead crane" facility starts moving forth and back when a train is loading / unloading.

Current version available here. However, currently we are in the process of adding a lot of new parts, so check out the latest posts for the most up-to date versions.
The GRF is still very incomplete, and since a lot of new parts are constantly added and stations categories are constantly switched, it's possible that you find trains stuck inside non-track tile stations and the program might crash.
To fix a savegame where you had an older version of the industrial stations renewal after updating the GRF file: first, deactivate indstatr(w).GRF in your newgrf list. Then, load the game, make sure that in the "new graphics status" you have the Industrial renewal set deactivated, replace all the stations with any other stations and save it (Note that even if after unload the Industrial Stations Renewal your stations look like default, if you don't replace them, this won't work) . Now, exit the game, and activate again the GRF file in your newgrf list. Then, you load again the game, activate the set, and manually replace all the stations.
It's a bit long to do, and it can be a nuisance to re-build anew all the industrial stations you had, but hey, it's a test GRF and our coder is doing an awesome work compiling all the work.

Switchyard available! now included in the last release of the GRF
Now tell me about officiality and his legality.

You know Russians are good at this. They almost do it every time if they could and if they want. Even one Russian released Win 95 (or was it 98?) about 6 Months before the actual release.
