My internship will still be ongoing in early July.
But school starts on the first week of september so any date in August is fine for me.
Financing the trip won't be much of an issue, it didn't cost more than 250-300 euros in total last time.

Hmm, I have no idea what I'll be up to this summer, but chances are, I'll be in the UK somewhere. So, depending on what I'm actually doing, I can probably make any date. Shall update when I know more, which may not be for a couple of months...

Hopefully I can make it, as long as it isn't the 5th of July, cos I am going to the A.net Mega MAN meet in Manchester, going up on flybe. Tell us when it is soon, so that I can book Exeter - gatwick on Flybe, Plymouth - Gatwick on Air Southwest or Newquay - Stansted on Ryanair.
Re: The Great UK Meet of 2008 - Sponsored by AMI Trains -
By the time you have transferred from the airports you would do better just to go by train the whole way into Paddington from any of those cities.
Re: The Great UK Meet of 2008 - Sponsored by AMI Trains -
Badger - you need to be there... we need someone with "disposable income"

Ameecher is right, it only takes a couple of hours tops to get from Exeter to Paddington by train (providing the train isnt cancelled of course)EXTspotter wrote:Hopefully I can make it, as long as it isn't the 5th of July, cos I am going to the A.net Mega MAN meet in Manchester, going up on flybe. Well until a date is finalised I shall be sitting on the fence.

I can't promise anything, it is courtesy of Worst Great Western.
Anyway, I prefer flying and killing the planet. I'm evil!!! Anyway, The plane tickets are only 1p each from Newquay, so even though it takes longer, I might go backwards to get their cheaper.

Stansted to London isn't exactly cheap, neither is Gatwick to London so you'd cancel out any saving especially after you've added taxes to the flight as well...
Re: The Great UK Meet of 2008 - Sponsored by AMI Trains -
If nobody minds, I'm most certainly using an aeroplane to get to the UK from Finland/the Netherlands, depending on where I'm at at the moment of the meet.

We might let you off with that? James and I were just pointing out that flying 300miles is rather pointless when there is a direct railway line which requires no changes of train the whole way.GoneWacko wrote:If nobody minds, I'm most certainly using an aeroplane to get to the UK from Finland/the Netherlands, depending on where I'm at at the moment of the meet.
Shut up. You organised a Dutch meet didn't you? Did you see us complaining?Purno wrote:Why *again* on a bloody island?

Would it have been any different if it was in southern France? I doubt it. And as said, organize a meeting in a location of your choice if you want it to be somewhere else; I think London is pretty accessible for everyone. (I might even go so far as to claim that it's better than Birmingham last year
)
I somewhat do hope we've/you've got something of an activity planned; Although sitting in a pub can be fun, I think something to do would be interesting. I think Andel mentioned some games he had lined up?

To be fair, London is probably one of the most accessible places in the world - direct flights operate from almost all major airports worldwide (and many minor ones), it has goodness knows how many train links (including Eurostar), and one can get ferries over to Britain and then onto a train to London if desired, too. I don't personally see how 20 miles of water should make it any more difficult to get to the meet than if it was held in, say, the South of France, as GoneWacko says. If anything, it should be more exciting!Purno wrote:Why *again* on a bloody island?

Andel has some games planned... and there will be a customary sit in a pub, too.
Here's hoping for better weather.
