Thanks for the link. Scary thing is, that bus waiting on the opening page is the bus I was on on the way home. Same model, and we waited at the same stop (obviously that pic wasn't taken today though).

Now that I'm back, I'm eager to fix my first bus, then go back and draw the new Volgrens which are being tested on the Northern Beaches (ie where I live).
I'm not impressed by them, but they look nice, so they should look good in game.
WhiteHand - notice how the liveries of all the STA buses are slightly different, not on the colours, but how they are painted on the buses? For example, the Volgrens have an all blue back panel, whereas the Volvo's and the MAN's still have a bit of white. The Mercedes buses have about 50/50ish on the back.
That should help us differentiate between some of the newer Volvo's and the older ones, as the basic bus shape and windows will look very similar in TT-scale.
Also, I think I need to lighten the shade of blue on my Volvo, and you need to darken the one on your Mercedes. But we can work on that as we go

Okay, I'm going to give this set a big, atomic sized kick in the bum. Again. Although, this kick is bigger.
Seeing as WhiteHand is bu-say with the AU Train Set, I figure that this would be a good place for me to start working. Unless WhiteHand has a problem with it, I'm going to code this set, as well as get stuck into the graphics for it.
So far, the main focus will be on Sydney, as thats the main hub of the STA's Government Bus operation. However, there are plans to try and include a couple of buses used here in Sydney and in Newcastle, if only to make the set as general as possible.
The focus is currently only on STA Buses, and not the other bus companies around Sydney.
However, the one spanner in the works, is that Sydney didn't really HAVE buses until the trams were phased out in the 1950's. I am working on a detailed scheme of models to use, but so far, a rough scheme is looking like this:
1921 - 1930 2 Tram models, coded to act as buses (It was decided it would be much too fiddly to bother trying to code them as trains, especially trying to make this bus set work in conjunction with the AU Set, making sure there were enough ID's free for both). I'm thinking the K-Class initially, then later on the P-Class. More info and pics to follow...
1945 Should see the introduction of the Leyland Titan bus, in it's original Green/Cream livery. Later, this will switch to the early Blue/White livery (1950?). Pikkabird has generously allowed me to re-colour his Leyland TD bus into the appropriate colours. The finished bus is posted below.
As the double deckers were around until 1980, I'm thinking another model, possibly the Leyland Atlantean bus, introduced in the late 50's, to replace the trams. Also, a single-decker bus, possibly the Leyland Leopard from the late 40's, and/or the Leyland Worldmaster.
After 1980, we have the advent of the Mercedes Articulated Bus, which replaced the Double Deckers. However, I just don't think it would work in TTD's scale, and so probably won't be included. The Mercedes buses of the 1980's will be included though, probably the Mk3, or the Mk4 or the Mk5. Then, the Scania/Volvo in the late 90's, and finally the current model in testing, the Volgrens of 2005.
I would also love to include the 1997 Sydney Metro/Light Rail, if WhiteHand has a spare ID left over from the AU Set that is. It would be coded as a train, as they function in 4-car units, and run on the old "heavy rail" freight tracks that used to branch off before Central, and go to Darling Harbour/Pyremont (sp?). There is only a small bit of street trackage, which means that it wouldn't need to be classed as a "tram".
More information to follow...
Below is Pikkabirds revised Leyland. The bus sprites remain the property of Pikkabird, and may only be used how he see's fit. I re-painted them though

Okay, only double posting because... Well, to keep this post seperated from the rambling on above.
Having worked out a scheme now, here it is:
**Base sprites contributed by Pikkabird, and recoloured by myself. These sprites remain the properly of Pikkabird and his HOVS Bus Set. Thanks to Pikkabird for helping to make this set possible.
*** Base sprites contributed by WhiteHand, and modified by myself.
****This one will be coded as a train, and will be using an ID not used by the AU Set, to ensure compatability.
EDIT: Added the R-Class of Tram, as it is rather distincive, and fills a nice hole in the early years. Also attached the sprites for the P-Class, for those of you intrested on how work is progressing...
EDIT2: I decided to swap the K-Class which, although really interesting, and good looking, was too much of a pain to draw. Getting the angles right with open sides, and with or without passengers proved too much. Perhaps further down the line?
Having worked out a scheme now, here it is:
*Until trams are possible (if ever), these will be coded as buses. The only reason they are in the set, is due to the fact that before the trams were phased out in the 50's, there were not many buses running in Sydney, and certainly not enough of any model to make a decent set out of. They were originally going to be coded as trains, but it was decided it would be too much fuss having to replace what amounted to "trains" with buses, what with having to rip up tracks and whatnot. Not only that, but early game, it's rather hard to build a railway system in a town anyway - you're far more likely to go between towns, which is what the AU Set is for.Raichase wrote:

For once I agree with youlost in my mind wrote:WOWthis is cool even more graphics coming out YAY!!!

EDIT: Completed the R-Class.
EDIT2: A quick fiddle around with the P-Class, and we have the L/P-Class. This will be replacing the K-Class, as having a tram with visible passengers was just too hard. Perhaps at a later date...

Leyland produced more than one vehicle called the "Titan"; Raichase's is a 1940s PD, whereas you're probably thinking of the 1970s B15.MajorDuck wrote:Hey peeps, is the LeyLand Titan not got front loading doors?? Cos correct me if i'm wrong but it looks like you've made a Routemaster....
