New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread (Works In Progress)
Moderator: Graphics Moderators
Greetings,
I boldly assumed that when the new 32bit gfx are usable there will be an easy way to add trains (just like adding .grf's now) and started to make Finnish train set. So far I've made Dv12 (diesel loco) and Sm1 (emu), and am currently working on Sr2 (electric loco). Constructive critisism is appreciated.

Nice models, I have also made Sr2, see this old topic page 2: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=15005
The power that I trust.
Also nice models. I don't see any point now to finish my Sr2, so I'm going to move on straight to Sm4 (that is, unless you have some secret stash of sm4-modelsSellu wrote:Nice models, I have also made Sr2, see this old topic page 2: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=15005

We should also try to cooperate, since there is no point in redoing models. Maybe, set up a wiki-page for Finnish stuff? That would avoid mix-ups and everyone would get a general sense what is done and what is still missing.
They're basic materials or very simple textures (think image with bottom part red and top part white).the master e wrote:@Hazen: Great trains, can you tell me where to get some textures, or are those just coulours?

ill have to redo the depot, but i hope you guys liked the first one...
(can someone make me a texture for it:
1) wooden planks for old days?
2) brick walls and rooftop (for newer ones)
3) concrete walls with rooftop
4) futuristic material? (for past 2025)

The walls should definitely have width - try making them out of solids, rather than single rectangles.
Then some actual detail. Perhaps some rails, and a maintenance pit between them. Some tool racks inside, and some detail on the doors, such as handles, locking mechanism, etc. The roof could be made of corrugated iron or wooden slats (both of which are more than just a texture) or something else entirely; at the moment, all we have is something that might be made entirely of sheets of card. (:
It might be an idea to draw a depot with a pencil, as it would look in real life, then try to model that.
