Maybe that exact usage didn't make it (yet) to the English language, but in this context it's a synonym for "cool" :)

Well that makes sense. Meanwhile, non native English speakers should be aware of http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/porno before they start using it too much :) Actually looking at that page, it seems many other European languages use the word for similar meanings. Why this is becoming a synonym for cool escapes me.

Possible explanation : a teenager (or even earlier) discovering porno for the first time would say "Cool"

I doubt it is the official explanation, though... just.. an attempt ;)

OpenTTD and Realism? Well... Here are a few thoughs on the matter.

i wonder if that interpretation has anything to do with the german word "geil", which can either mean "cool" or "horny", depending on context.

The thing is "porno" is a noun, using it as an adjective makes little sense.

I've heard it used almost this way here in Norway. In the military, meaning "perfect" (we were asked to wash our cars until they were "porno"). Not very common, though.

Oh my, such a discussion emerged from my reaction.

Anyways, my English isn't perfect, though I know the meaning of the word perfectly well and IIRC it can also be used to express one's feelings towards something that is attractive to the person in question. I used it in this context. At least in the Netherlands, Germany and on some places on the intarwebs it's used in this context within the English language (yes, places where the Oxford dictionary has no rule over people ;) ). Maybe it's something European, which I'm almost certain of viewing the reactions of non-Europeans towards this issue.

However, enough bickering on language! Continue on developing please as in the eyes of many this discussion is purely off-topic.

I'd say we use this expression a lot, for example:"For ei porno t-shorte" (translates to something like:"That t-shirt is real porn", when we mean "that is a really cool t-shirt", hence porn(o) might be a adjective as well :)

superduper bump from the land of the death:

is there a download for a patch that supports the TTDP-like behaviour (previous links went dead) and/or is there anyone here that might be able to revive this SUPERB feature for road-sets (mainly)

There's TTD patch, which works quite the same as TTDP! There's also a patch on page 2 (it even seems to support PBS!).

If there was one, it would have been posted. But I agree this would be a really cool feature.

The newest code was last merged against trunk r8038, which puts it over ten thousand revisions behind. Any attempt at a manual merge would amount to a re-implementation, given how much has changed since then. The old code did compile fine though ;).

like i said, i fail to see why we dont have this feature yet/anymore as its is one of the better ones in my personal opinion, and i dont wanna swap to TTDP just for that XD

so would it be hard to update it over 10k revisions or did the code change to much?

and if at all, would any of our main developpers shed some light on what they think of the Custom Bridgeheads at this moment

I fail to see why you haven't created a patch for it yet then.

Yes, as already said it would be more like a rewrite
or did the code change to much?
Yes

A nice feature, why did nobody write a (good) patch for it yet?

Looking back over the posts in this topic, I think there are two reasons this patch wasn't maintained:
1) Its primary maintainer is inactive.
2) The assumption was that the forthcoming new map array would force a rewrite anyway.

The map array, IIRC, is in development hell now. A number of fundamental things have changed since the initial write, including the C to Cpp migration. I think YAPF was introduced after the fact, or around the same time. I'm playing with the source code now but I'm not that familiar with it. It's (almost certainly) not a quick fix, else someone would have done it by now.

that's nonsense, the cpp migration was CAUSED by this patch, and development of this patch was halted when an unsurmountable problem with signals appeared, which, to my knowledge, still has not been solved
