Re: The Map Game
Map Unlocked
Here is a new map:
- Completely reorganised space section without squashing the main map
- Added news and Mars base
BREAKING NEWS!!!
Mars base built by UESPA!
Lunar launching rail completed!
Work begun on Space Elevator - the UES Pamela is currently in the asteroid belt, searching for a suitable anchor for the cable. While there, she has discovered several asteroids that are extremely rich in valuable minerals and ores. The UESPA will begin mining operations as soon as a specialised mining ship is ready, with the profits being evenly distributed across all member nations. (i.e. anyone who has said they will work with UESPA)

Re: The Map Game
Our science department noticed us that some satellite has been hit by space debris. Unfortunately we aren't able to identify which one it was.

Re: The Map Game
Easy. Find out what has stopped working (eg satellite TV, communications, GPS, DSA) and now you know what satellite it was.
The UES Pamela is currently busy towing an asteroid, but as soon as it's sagely in GSO she'll get back to clearing space debris.
What about the proposed high speed rail connections? I need permission from CSA, Bucketania, Pottsania, Geoduckia and New Britannia to proceed. (Remember the USAf will provide all funding, you will only reap the economic benefits) They are marked on the map, BTW.
MEANWHILE...
The UESPA Mining Corps has started mining operations of the Asteroid Belt! For this purpose they have commissioned two specialised ships - the UES Juno and the UES Ceres. From the picture you can tell which one does what... @APDAF: Yes, I know of that website - in fact I drew some inspiration from it

Thank you very much. The caterpillar drive is performing greatly BUT... there's always a but.Emperor Jake wrote:Welcome to the UESPA.
How goes development on the Caterpillar Drive? We are willing to test it out on the UES Pamela when she's completed.

The thing is that it really need very little energy to function so it may be worth further researching it. Maybe you have some idea how to solve this.
In the meantime, 7 Voyager class spaceships (Voyager, Equinox, Intrepid, Constitution, Stargazer, Prometheus and Constellation) are functioning perfectly and keep travelling to the moon and back transporting supplies and personnel. The remaining 9 are still under construction.
Congratulations!Emperor Jake wrote:Men land on Mars!

It has been confirmed for some time now that the "barrier" doesn't really exists. Some particles we have "fired" in our particle accelerator have broken the speed of light. Now it's only about researching further and figuring out a way to implement it on spaceships.D-CHGU wrote:Together it shall be possible to break the Einstein-Barrier !
That was a old Rohan military satellite. We're preparing to put it down in a controlled descent.buckethead wrote:Our science department noticed us that some satellite has been hit by space debris. Unfortunately we aren't able to identify which one it was.
In other news:
Although Rohan has completely passed on green technologies, some other countries still haven't. We are appealing to you once again to change your attitudes. The global warming is still a threat. We have calculated that a sea rising is very likely to happen in which case Rohan itself would lose approximately 10% of it's territory due to floods. Some other world areas are even more susceptible to this sea rising, expecially northern Europe, the Indian peninsula, southern Australia and Oceanian islands and China.
Don't take this warning lightly!

Nah just wait few hundred years for an ice age or we could make our own.
Also The Imperial Space Colonial and Expeditional Force would like to join with UESPA on a temporarily basis as I have a design for a better mining ship.

@Emperor Jake: We believe UESPA are being overcontrolling and depart. Why should we go off their designs. We also deside to carry on with USS Enterprise. It will go off our design posted between page 200 and here.

Re: The Map Game
The UESPA says: Okay, fine. Go ahead and develop your overambitious spaceship all by yourself. No more asteroid mining profits for you.
The UESPA will continue to research stardrive technologies in the hope of building an FTL-capable ship. A testbed demonstrator has been built - the UES Avenger. It features the latest fusion powerplant, and a new type of fusion-ion drive. We are hoping this vessel will achieve at least relativistic (ie close to the speed of light) speeds to test the physics of moving at such speeds.
Construction on the Space Elevator is also coming along nicely - the asteroid has been prepared and we will soon be dropping the first cable.
@Voyager One: Thank you for your transport services to the Moon - the CosmoShuttles are really starting to age. Are your ships compatible with the maglev launching rail on the Moon? It would be an easy modification, with the advantage of a fast, efficient and fuel-free launch from the moon.
The Caterpillar Drive may be useful for powering carriers that transport the ore from the asteroid mines back to Earth. It doesn't have to be fast, and so we will try to fit it to one of our Pamela-class tugs. This would potentially make the transport of ore from the mine to Earth much cheaper.
BTW, don't worry about that satellite, the Pamela will tow it to LunarHub and then you can recycle the materials. Don't just let those valuable materials evaporate.
Regarding the environment, the USAf is a very clean country. Many of our railways are electrified, fuel cell trains are common thanks to Costar, and almost all automobiles are powered by either fuel cells or batteries.
However, our major polluters still include heavy industry such as steel mills, smelters etc. Unless someone develops emission-free ways of smelting ores, we can never become a 100% clean nation.

Re: The Map Game
It's so much more fun to play this game with every post by APDAF hidden.
Anyway, the hidden technology is no longer hidden!
Newland scientists have discovered a technology that will allow near-instant teleportation! This is how it works (a rough outline):
Matter enters a special chamber.
A scanner reads each type of matter in its chamber.
The matter is converted to energy (e=mc^2).
The energy, along with the information gathered about the matter, is beamed via Ultra-Low frequency waves to another compatible place.
The energy is converted into matter as per the instructions.
This is the result of centuries of research. This works faster than light as well (superoptic speeds are actually possible in real life).
If you decide to veto this, keep in mind that we are in the 2200s already. 150 years ago, they did not even have electric lightbulbs.
PS Map unlocked, I decided not to do any changes for now.

Re: The Map Game
USS Enterprise has been built on Earth. We built a special launch Tower to launch it directly into Space.
It was launched yesterday and is currently on its first assingment, to Reach the start closest to our Solar system.

The Craft is crewed with 250 people and is Captained by Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
This craft does not just do Warp speed, but Warp 9.9. This is the Fastest craft currently.

Re: The Map Game
Our scientists have come up with the theory that, since it was possible to accelerate particles to a speed greater than the speed of light, why not build a big "particle" accelerator to accelerate spaceships to speeds greater than the speed of light. Since there is no friction in space, the speed could be upheld until the crew decided to "brake" using it's own engines...
How does the international scientific community respond to this ?
On further news, our unmaned extrasolar probe has now left the solar system and fired the Mk II NP-engines with larger shaped charges as propellant. All information indicate even greater acceleration than expected and the craft is allready at 1/3rd of the speed of light and has not yet used up all its acceleration potential.
The craft is now well on it's way to Proxima Centauri.
And I'd like to veto the Enterprise... we're still developping FTL technologies, I thought...

Re: The Map Game
They're not yet compatible, they're using their own rocket booster to launch from the moon but we think they can be easily adapted (although not necessary). Just to make you remember, they're being launched with the Thor V rocket from the Earth and then they use their own rocket engine for space travel and once back into the Earth's atmosphere they switch to their "standard" jet engines to fly and land like a normal plane. (picture a few pages back)Emperor Jake wrote:Are your ships compatible with the maglev launching rail on the Moon? If speed is not an issue, then this is a great thing. A simple nuclear reactor (i.e. size for a nuclear submarine) can keep it powered for 67 years (a calculation based on full employment 24/7) with a single refueling. Just to explain you a "problem" - making a more powerful power source won't help - there's only that much matter in space, more power changes nothing.Emperor Jake wrote:The Caterpillar Drive may be useful for powering carriers that transport the ore from the asteroid mines back to Earth. Don't touch that satellite please. Seriously.Emperor Jake wrote:BTW, don't worry about that satellite, the Pamela will tow it
Impose them heavy fines for pollution like we did. Eventually they will have to implement pollution-control filters, strict recycling procedures and similar. We can also help you with CO2 underground storages - stored directly from chimneys, in a manner of speaking.Emperor Jake wrote:our major polluters still include heavy industry
Rohan is still not a zero-emission country but we have managed do decrease our polluting emissions by 74% in just 25 years.
However it is impossible to "teleport" living matter, isn't it?Level Crossing wrote:Newland scientists have discovered a technology that will allow near-instant teleportation!
In other news:
Rohan Aerospace (part of UESPA of course) has disclosed two "anti-alien" weapons, although we hope we won't be needing them.
1. Spatial torpedo - a nuclear-based projectile that after detonation produces a high-yield electromagnetic blast that disrupts electrical equipment and power. Basically it overloads it and fries it. It is launched from a device very similar to a submarine torpedo launcher, nothing too fancy. Disadvantages - it can be intercepted as any other projectile.
2. Proton pulse cannon (smaller and weaker prototype built only) - a "cannon" firing a short but highly concentrated beam of protons which damage any kind of matter. Advantages - very powerful and damaging, very precise, yield can be regulated (higher/lower power). Disadvantages - it needs a VERY powerful power source (calculations for the real thing say 0,37 Terawatts each), needs about 2-3 minutes between each shot to cool down.
Well, we're still working on them both...

EDIT: Veto on Enterprise too. No FTL yet.
