Crash when AI build train station with newgrf set (r2366)

Post by ttdworld »

Hi
After a long break I came back to play a little and I am getting same error - loading sprites of new stations (Michael Blunck's) from time to time (let's say half an hour) during the play. I've never had such errors as I remember playing few months earlier. I have the same GRF all the time and even paste-over previous file from backup didn't help. I couldn't find any reason to cause it. I can just sit and watch and it still crash at the same date. The only way to avoid this is to load earlier save game and wish for luck (usually it goes through).
Some details:
- Windows 7 HP x64 PL
- latest Nvidia GeForce drivers
- latest TTDPatch nightly r2366
- new stations GRF from Michael Blunk's site
- the game won't crash without new stations grf
- the game usually won't crash using older save game

The crash is in the AI callback (CB18). I´ve seen this one single time before, but I don´t remember the reason.

What year does it happen? Are the AI´s doing something "special" at that particular date?

I'm in 1947 or so, but it happens from the beginning (1921). Later I'll take a look around if I can see something unusual. Do I have to look only at new stations only (using your GRF) or it could be cause by any other thing in game?

Yes, the crash happens because the AI tries to built a NewStations part, namely "roofs" (the first entry in the building menu). O/c, this might be because of a bug in the NewStations grf, but as well in the TTDPatch code when accessing a certain part of the AI code in the newGRF.

Well, I couldn't find anything. I loaded last save and manually turned off newstations.grf in-game, then I paused game at date of error and I couldn't find any new objects, even later. The only thing happening was rebuilding whole terrain by AI around the city which has mine and AI's train stations around. Maybe problems with slopes? But I switched autoslopes off and it didn't help.
I can go through this by switching off newstations.grf in-game for just one day (when error appears) and then switched it on back.

EDIT:
Well, it started to crash with other station sets also. It's getting annoying...

EDIT:
It looks like the game crashes when AI tries to build a train station. I did the same (switched off whole new stations grfs manually in game at the particular date and wait some days) and now I see that one AI chose default station instead of new ones that all other AIs use. Does it help anything?
