Re: Top ten most over crowded trains
Well of course it would! You production line them. Or you buy those cheap Chinese things in the back of the trade mags that the Irish bought for a little under a mill.
Loved seeing that 172 thread, "These replace the 150's, the oldest bone shakers form the BR era" says the BBC man "passengers aren't unhappy to see the back of them". We were over joyed in cider country to see them arrive. Many services are two and three car instead of one and two now! Send you boneshakers this way northerners!

Re: Top ten most over crowded trains
Indeed. And thus is the crux of the problem. Of course it's unfair that your coal-mine-working-Northerner gets the crap Pacers while the investment-bank working Southerner is getting 140mph Japanese-built high speed trains, but the latter is unsubsidised, is paying far more for the ticket, and contributing far more to the economy.Dave W wrote:When you consider the majority of railway "customers" pass through London...

Re: Top ten most over crowded trains
Well what if we stop mining coal? No electricity for your fancy electric trains.

You just have to download the ORR station usage figures to see which stations really count.Dave W wrote:When you consider the majority of railway "customers" pass through London...
Myself, I still say a train is not overcrowded if you can see the floor.
Re: Top ten most over crowded trains
Yes, yes of course, but if you think about cost-effective growth you have to look at the city regions as well.
'Passenger Transport' has some nice trend data on overcrowding this month, and its a three year win for FGW, so i think the point stands.
I also stand by HS2 comments
rolling electrification and targeted improvements would win a NATA case surely.
Ho Hum.

WCML is at capacity, so a new line has to be built to shove more trains down.teccuk wrote:I also stand by HS2 commentsrolling electrification and targeted improvements would win a NATA case surely.
