Landslide in London
PING!! (Note: will only be on temporarily)
This has caused a large amount of disruption in the south-east of London and England this week, after a burst water main caused a landslide in South Croydon. This has caused widespread disruption as all trains between East Croydon and Brighton were cancelled, all Gatwick Expresses were cancelled, apart from Caterham/Tattenham Corner shuttles that started at Purley all last night. Services resumed at a crawl this morning, with cancellations likely.
Annoyingly, Purley Oaks, MY station, has been closed for what I can see as a waste of commuter's time, basically because they cannot be bothered to man the station.
Discuss the whole issue.

Re: Landslide in London
When it happened, that evening my friend was coming back from Guildford to Brighton where he lives, stupidly he went via Clapham Junction and not via Dorking Deepdene hence had to wait 6 hours to get to the front of the replacement busses queue at East Croydon... Silly boy...
Re: Landslide in London
Southern had taken pity of me and reopened South Croydon and Purley Oaks early. Maybe my diagnosis was correct then !!!
On Monday night, I, being an ingenious boy, would have suggested taking bus route 405 to Redhill, then route 100 to Crawley, then route 273 to Brighton.
Then he wouldn't have waited 6 hours!!! All operated by the same company and all!

Yeah but my friend is a total donkeybrain (bless him), to be fair he could have just got the train back to Guildford and then the one to Redhill from there like he does every other time to get home...
