Cargo not being sold at end station, how come?

Post by RogueNine »

First off, just wanted to say that its great to see Transport Tycoon is still around, and with a strong audience. Thanks to whomever created this site. :)

Ok, now on to my problem. I've got 3 trains running coal to a power plant from 3 different mines. However, when they deliver their coal, the coal ends up at my end station and is just waiting there. (Says re-route from station 'X'.) In the train's individual info screens their profit for the year increases, but my cash balance doesn't. So what gives? (Yes, the station accepts coal, and happens to be touching the power plant.) Is it because I'm running too much coal to the plant? That was never an issue in the old TT I played, but I've never played TTD before. If so, thats an annoying feature.. (Can i turn it off? :D ) If thats not it, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks again,
Rogue

Hello and welcome,

First: Industries accept as much as you bring them. There's no limit.
Second: Maybe you set it to unload at the "Power Station" station. I'm not completely sure, but I think you don't have to set it to "unload" at a station that accepts the cargo...

Try that, maybe it helps.

Hehe, your a genius! In the old one, I always set it to 'Load' and 'Unload', but in the new one I guess unload isn't a good thing to do.

Thanks a bunch, now I can play normally again. (And thanks for the fast reply. :D )

Hmm, got a second question. Is there any way to stop industries from closing? I find that annoying too. :(

Well, as far as I know, no :( yeah i find it annoying. So what I do is either

1. Set autosave to every 3 months, so that if the factory close just reload the Autosave.

2. Or just rename the file an .sv0 file (scearnio), go edit the scearnio and put in the industry which closed :P Some people (*cough*Combatgold*cough*) may call it "cheating" but who cares? It's the industry's fault for closing down even though it doean't have a "supply problem"

BTW, welcome and good to see another Rogue Sqaudron fan, are you, by any chance, a Corran Horn fan. Just that your name is RogueNine and all :D

Welcome mate.

I've found when an industry closes loading a saved game doesn't work. It never did for me anyway but thats not to say it doesn't. But editing the scenario will work.

Hi there,

Just use this neat little editor
http://www.topcatdk.dk/ttdx/
It lets you edit your savegames
You can give industries that are going to close a new boost !
I always use it when an industry drops to below what my trains can carry

Your goods-en-route problem
that's a classic one, the feederservice switch is on in your ttdpatch.cfg file
No need to put unload in your orders
Only use unload when you want to drop cargo at a station so another vehicle can pick it up

this way you can transport cargo over a great distance using several vehicle types
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

Thanks for the help everyone. I saw the editors, but hoped there would be a less tedious solution. (Like a 'Stop Those Annoying Industry Closings' button I missed somewhere. )

Is it just me, or do only industries that you can build close? If thats the case, I guess I could just build a replacement. (Also, can industries you build close?)

Sultana, funny thing about my name... I used to call myself Rogue, no real reason, I just liked the word. Then one day I went to sign up somewhere, Rogue was already taken, so I added my favorite number. (Nine) About 3-4 years after, someone asked me if I was a Corran Horn fan, and I had no idea who he was talking about. So he pointed me in the direction of the Star Wars EU. Being a huge Star Wars fan, I eventually ended up reading all the books, and am now a huge Horn fan. (I consider me choosing that name Jedi Intuition of course. :D )

 I'd like to say that my name came from some "jedi intuition", but... no, just no, I'd figured I'd name myself after a piece of (dried) fruit :P I also use Green Apple in some places

btw, lucky you didn't name yourself rouge, ooooh, then you would get it, lol, flamed from every direction, and directed to a very disurbing site wich has Wedge wearing lipstick :?

Heh, rogue, you have same thing i had a few years ago.
I played S3 and Red Alert 2 with a nickname Tank7_2001.

But when i grew up, i thought that was a stupid log-on, so i began to think for better name. I just thought, that in RA2 are lots of soldiers, i decided a nick like "troopper" then some kinda number "five". :)

Today, i use that log-on nearly everywhere i have a login name! :D

Oh, my words can be a bit dizzy, i'm not so good in english

My name came from a very popular comic: Casper and Hobbes by Bill Watterson
I think i envy his fantasies and would like to be so heroic and adventurous like him

lol, no there isn't and no need asking, they can't fix it

AFAIK tell, only coalmines, iron ore mines, oil wells and farms can close, i haven't seen any others, but like you see, it's the primary industries, so wood forest can close down too

Other industries like factories and sawmills, wouldn't know, you can rebuilt them in the game , so that's no problem, it really never happened to me anyway
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future
