Strange sightings
This forum I have made is for people to express their interests on seeing trains trailing away from their usual stomping ground, and also for those rare sightings.
I saw an FGW Class 165/6 in Norwood Jcn the other day, and the same unit passing through Purley oaks later in the afternoon.
There is one question that I want to ask, if anyone knows the answer to,
What is the average fuel range of these Networker Turbos, as I believe that it was refuelling at Selhurst before returning to Gatwick or Redhill, instead of at Reading or Oxford?

Very much a retired regular poster..... If you can say that

Re: Strange sightings
Well I don't know the range but the Turbos are route learning on the Southern in preparation for a December closure of Reading that'll see some trains diverted to Waterloo rather than running into Paddington, hence the appear around the South

Re: Strange sightings
If I was going back to uni at that time, my journey would actually be simpler. As trains from Reading to Guildford are either 30 minutes or hourly, whereas from Woking its more like every 15 minutes...

They won't go anywhere near Woking.EXTspotter wrote:If I was going back to uni at that time, my journey would actually be simpler. As trains from Reading to Guildford are either 30 minutes or hourly, whereas from Woking its more like every 15 minutes...

Re: Strange sightings
What route are they taking to avoid Reading? I thought literally nothing was going through Reading on the 27th - 30th. My timetable for the Guildford line showed a service to Wokingham and then bussing to Reading. Also that some of the (long distance) trains would operate into Waterloo.
