JAPAN SCENARIO ON HOLD. NEW SCENARIO UNDER DEVELOPMENT.
New scenario is fictional, and is on a 1024*1024 sized map. It will feature many regional highways (or interstates/motorways...). Also a lot of industries (variety I CANNOT guarantee, but there will be lots). A mix of large and small towns/cities. Please go to the latest post for screenshots.

Hello,
I am currently working on a Japan Scenario which will encompass all of Japan's 5 main islands. Most if not all of the major cities (Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima, etc.) will be included, alongside with a lot of (and I do mean a lot of) small towns and villages throughout Japan. It is a 2048*2048 size map.
I am currently working on the island of Kyushu.
Below are some screenshots of development

Can you post a screenshot of the GRF's being used?

thats quite a hefty list for a scenario
if you want to ever put your scenario on bananas you should either make sure all grfs are on bananas or remove the ones that aren't

nice scenario though

Great work, just a few comments,

-The area in the on the north-east side of the Islands is a little empty in the Ishikawa, Shimane, and Tottori areas.
-Again in the north of the Islands in the Okkaido area is again a little empty.
-Finally this is only a suggestion but it would be nice if the countries around Japan like South Korea and Russia where in place to fill the empty space of the sea. Even if there there are no towns on them.

Again great work, keep it up.

If it's a Japan scenario I'd recommend not using the European, German, UK, Dutch, Norwegian and Swiss and American train sets.

How about just one train set, possibly the Japan set? Or none so the player can add one of their preference themselves.

I wouldn't recommend the opengfx new buildings GRF as it's not on bananas and if someone wants them wouldn't they have OpenGFX?

Also why use all the station grfs you can't use them in scenario editor anyway, the player can add themselves.

Sorry if this comes across the wrong way I'm just trying to help 8)

Hi, you are doing a great job, just a few pointers;

-Names of cities. I see that some of the town names have city status and some do not. For example Mitoyo is known Mitoyo City as seen here; http://www.city.mitoyo.lg.jp/forms/top/top.aspx. The best thing is to drop the "city" in the names as its status of the city to seprate it from towns and villages, but if you would like more infomation to get this right this here is a good link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cities_of_Japan.
-In Kagawa Prefecture the town Ohama a better town name maybe could be Hakoura or Takamacho Namari as they are closer to the end of the land.
-Kurashiki, I would move 5 tiles north and 4 tiles west.

Good job,
JS.

Alrighty! Here is my first release for the Japan Scenario, I finished it my 12+ hours flight from Detroit to Tokyo with a combination of a few tourist maps of Japan, and the JR Timetable map....
It has most of the large cities (or all of them), and also a lot of smaller towns and villages. And due to my laziness and tiredness, I did not add the city status for all the cities, but will do so in my next release.
I think I am missing a bunch of towns, and working to cover that, also I do not have roads connecting all of the towns/cities. Please enjoy my Japan Scenario v0.1.1
EDIT: also, newGRF list has been updated... will update after I land in Hong
EDIT: Second edition of the 0.1.1 edition of scenario uploaded

Rely nice layout and detail with the towns, I'd love to able to play this scenario as intended, but I have a small nag, possibly too many new grfs still, I understand some of them you won't be able to remove like house sets, but I don't understand what's with all the station and vehicle sets, there's none on the map, why not remove them and let player pick their own?

Looks awesome. For the GRF's my recommendation would be either choosing BaNaNa's GRF-s (which was already mentioned earlier), or add them to your Scenario, as a 'Package' in a ZIP file. And yes, you should use GRF's which are particular to that area. (Like the Japanese Train-set)

Hey, I hope to see this scenarion when its done :) I'd love to play a proper game with japanese stuff. BTW, it seems to me A LOT of the large cities have many power plants (particularly ones near water) so dont forget that. If you google map "Xindustry near Xcity" you might find some suggestions for placement of industries

Looked at the WIP screens, looking good. I've been waiting for someone to make a map with Motorways in place, too lazy myself.

Try not using as many .grf's this time
