I don't think this is quite what you mean, but you can delete whole trains with control + dragging to the bin using 'fastwagonsell', as of Beta 1. I haven't tested it yet, but it might keep orders or it might not, if you immediately build another train.
You know, I just realized that, and was about to delete my post. I haven't tried Beta 1 yet though...So I guess my suggestion was already done ! Sorry about that.

it keeps order, and works that: Hold down Ctrl key, sell engine ... all waggons/engines from whole train will be sold too
Heres a small idea. Make it an option to automatically hide the signs when you go into transparency mode. 99% of the time you go into the the transparency mode to get more visibility, and this would help greatly when you do that(atleast for me.. a bother to do the two things at the same time and the signs can be very annoying when you are doing delicate railwork).
Anyways it would just be an option which could be disabled as default.
I must be lazy too, i would appreciate a lot this feature if it existed (2 clicks instead of 6 : 2*(transparent+signs+stations) plus sometimes even town names)

Indeed, the dirt looks... dirty! Quite onrealistic too. Perhaps an idea to size down the sign too or to make it look more like a building announcement sign.
