Post reporting

Post by Kogut »

Is it possible to move spam reason on the top of list of issues? I never reported warez, spam is more popular.
Why "Notify me: Informs you when your report is dealt with." results in nothing?

I hardly ever let somebody know we dealt with a report. It's too much work on a daily basis. And when I look at the amount PM's I sent and the amount of replies I get it's a simple calculation: it's not worth my effort.

Besides, if you see a reported message has been removed what more proof do you need it was dealt with?

About changing the order in the lists you'll have to wait for Owen.

Seems a bit picky but purely sensible IMO.

Sometimes I wish that I had the power to move spam to the spam bin, just by the sheer amount of it I see on here...

I agree with Kogut - if you've no intention of letting the member know their issue is resolved, the option shouldn't be there.

I'm not sure it's particularly easy to change this, so I'll likely not change it.

Again, I'm not sure if I can actually disable that option. I think some moderators will send replies when dealing with reports, but if it's something trivial like dealing with spam, then I think it's acceptable that moderators won't take further time out of their schedule to reply to it.

I think in that case though most people won't bother checking that option - if it's spam they don't care as long as it's gone. On the other hand, if they're being abused or something along those lines, I think they're more than entitled to a response if they request one. "Too much work" isn't really an excuse if you feel threatened on the board. I'd hope that these incidents were few and far between but in my opinion that's what that button would be there for.

Which makes me realise I should've been more clear with my reply. Whenever someone is targeted personally by a fellow forum member it'll lead to a discussion between the mods. When we take action we consider it smart to not just inform the aggressor but also inform the victim. Fortunately it seldom happens but when it does time isn't of the essence (for every moderator).
