[OTTD] SamMaccaa's Screenshot Thread..

Post by SamMacca »

Ahh I've been inspired.. inspired by the likes of Mr Worley, jVassie, ivanfurlanis, Chrill and the likes..

Anyways.. I read on Dave's Screen thread that he adds towns as he goes along, creating a map with towns perfectly placed. I thought that was a belting idea, so I made a scenario with just one town then added as I went (using the money cheat of course). Sadly, it didn't work out for me, probably cause I'm abit of a OTTD noob.

So, I decieded another tactic. I went on the Scenario editor, created a lanscape (1024x1024), clicked the many random towns button, manually placed a few industries, then found the biggest town or city.

Turned out to be a city called Windhall. Windhall was to be headquarters. So then I placed a few more industries to the north-east of the town, including a factory on an island.. perfect to produce lots of goods for Windhall and the surrounding towns. Aswell as funding my company.

Here the Scenario if anyones interested;
Windhill.scn
(2.07 MiB) Downloaded 129 times
I started the game in 1870, so I've got more time to use Steam and stuff. I hate Maglev and Monorail, its ugly. Infact, I like Monorail now, thanks to Zero.Eight and his Monorail Infrastructure Conversion Set.

So yeah, heres a full grf list;
Windhill Railways, 4th Feb 1887#1.png
Many thankyou's to everyone whos contributed to the things on that list, and also OpenTTD.

I'd do a nice little story like Dave does cause it sounds wicked but.. I'm 7 years into the game and I suck at storys. But feel free to make up your own little storys to these pics ahaha!

So just a quick route map of whats been done so far, very badly colour coded;
Windhill Railways, 4th Feb 1887#2.png
Red - Connects Windhill and Liverdore
Light Blue - Connects Liverdore and Great Dunstone
Pink - Is a cicular route serving Windhill, Dunwich, Strathdown and Cheethwaite Springs
Blue - Connects Liverdore, Fohead, Avonstoke Common, Windlow, Dunhaven Park and terminates at Liverbourne
Yellow - Is a circular route serving Avonstoke Common, Windlow and Dunhaven Park
Black - Is another circular route serving Liverbourne, Greatstoke, Chinningdon Green, Great Dunstone, Frindean, Lodingbury and Malbury
All other routes not colour coded are Freight Lines and will be colour coded in the next shot.

Continued on is the Freight map;
Windhill Railways, 4th Feb 1887#3.png
Black - Is a Coal service to Bunway Steel Mill (south) and Gruddown Power Station (east)
Brown - Is a Iron Ore service to Bunway Steel Mill
Green - Two wood lines to Cheethwaite Springs Sawmill
Blue - The northern Blue in a Goods service from Bunway Factory to Windhill, the southern Blue is a Goods service from Mardnor End Food Processing Plant to Liverdore
Purple - Is a Grain and Livestock service to Mardnor End Food Processing Plant
Orange - Is a Lumber service supplying Bunway Factory
Grey - Is the Steel service again serving Bunway Factory
White? - Is an Oil service to Meaworth Refinery
Pink - Is a Plastic supply to Bunway Factory
Yellow - Is a Fuel Oil supply to Great Dunstone Fuel Depot

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here's a shot of Bunway Factory.. yeah I know it'll be turd compared to some insanely complex stuff, but it works;
Also, needs to be re-done as it doesn't look to athestically pleasing.
Windhill Railways, 4th Feb 1887#4.png
The line to the north is the Steel line that comes down from Bunway Steel Mill
The two Goods trains are pulled by dual 4-6-0's as are all the Freight trains.
In the northern platforms, a train lumbers into the station with 128 tonnes of Steel.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windhill Railways, 4th Feb 1887#5.png
Gruddown Power Station, 943 tonnes of Coal are waiting to be processed, nearing the stockpile limit.
In the sidings sits a disused 2-6-0 Mogul, purely for eye candy.. meanwhile two coal trains cross paths.

And another thing.. I don't understand all the signal malarky.. thats the reason why there wrong (if they are?)

Well.. I got bored of that game..

Been playing a new one now for a wweek or so.. started in 1950 (I think) and I'm now in 1973. I've not gone for the whole, wow I can make loads of money stuff. To me, all thats boring. So I started a random scenario thing and away I went.

No story to all these, I suck at that kinda stuff. Just some random shots.

This one is the main city for me, Liverstock. In 1956.
Liverstock Railways, 16th Oct 1956.png
Then here we are in 1973 where the population has jumped to over 29,000.
Liverstock Railways, 16th Jul 1973#9.png
And here we have the first extension of my first main line, which originally just ran from Liverstock to Sadchurch. But now it goes through Sadchurch and further south. Also shown is Little Exbury Airport, which had to be plonked in the middle of nowhere due to noise issues.

Ahh praise from a screenshot guru.. more to come..

Around the main city of Liverstock there is 5 small towns around it. I built a ring around Liverstock connecting all these smaller towns so that, in the future, it'll be like a small metro service running through the town.

The north part of the ring connects Freaside Heath and Bonby Cross. This shot also shows the Liverstock North train station. Also, to the top of the image is a pass created to make Valuables trains avoid the, usually, busy crossing at Liverstock North.
Liverstock Railways, 16th Jul 1973.png
To the eastern side is a small town called Lodingstone. Lodingstone hasn't developed as quickly as other towns but its still doubled in size since the foundation of the company.
Liverstock Railways, 16th Jul 1973#1.png
And the final image shows Little Exbury. The 2 lines that come past the station has 3 eight wagon EM2's taking goods into Liverstock South. The Diesel VT-11 near the bottom takes passengers from Liverstock the the local Airport.

Ahh yet another game.. this is just turning into random screenshots..

Anyways, I think this is the best game I've played yet. Finally got into a save where I can play it for days.
Its a 512x512 map on Temperate. Medium number of towns, low industries and a £300k max loan.

No story, just pretty pictures..

Yeahh I only made them at the start to avoid splashing out on bridges.. and there only still there because the Passenger route to Bad Magdeburg isn't very busy. Just built bridges now that I have many unnessacery millions.

Nice shots.

Just a question: how do you the brown tiles for your station ? I can't find them in the Industrial station renewal 0.8.0 GRF. I have the same infrastructure, but only with normal gray tiles.

When you open up the Station build list, go to Industrial: Raw Materials

Edit: I misunderstood you. There has to be Iron Ore waiting at the station for it to pile up.

You didn't get the point, but anyway I re-asked my question there, it is maybee a better place :)

I get the question now, the picture didn't load up first time. You need to download version 0.9.8.

New game.. new shots..

Usually, when I start a new game.. I find the biggest town and set up camp there. This time however..
Also, in this game I downloaded SleeperAI (can't remember where from) so that I could run two companys, using the cheat. We shall begin with my main company, the STG.. or Sheffield Transport Group.

I decieded to find my home town of Sheffield :] and begin there.. so here we are..

1.png (121.49 KiB) Viewed 3849 times
Ahh next up.. the southern platforms of Sheffield Station head down through the small town of Banbury..
2.png

..and on to terminate at Barton, for the time being..
3.png
3.png (134.73 KiB) Viewed 3849 times

Next up.. we shall take a view at the STG's most profitable line yet.. the Sheffield-Tring line..

And finally.. the small City of Tring. A total of four 3-car trains headed by NER EE1's run this service..

Trains from the Sheffield-Tring Line and the Tring Northen Line, which we will see next, terminate here.
