Help naming the line
Can someone please tell me what line this bridge is on (from the Harry Potter Films) and do you know if they have any steam loco's running on it that I might be able to get tickets on. My cousin is a potter nut and train fan and he's always talking about the bridge and flying car scene.

Oddly enough, there is a scheduled Fort William-Mallaig steamer. Best get up there and go on the WHL, give its statistics a boost, before the Tories target it for a cut.

Re: Help naming the line
If you are referring to The Jacobite, why exactly would it be cut? The West Highland Line as a whole probably makes very little money, and the steam service (operated, of course, by a private company) would no doubt boost the income of the line with track fees or whatever has to be paid.Kevo00 wrote:Oddly enough, there is a scheduled Fort William-Mallaig steamer. Definitely wouldn't be cut. Must make money just for the tourist value.orudge wrote:If you are referring to The Jacobite, why exactly would it be cut? Re: Help naming the line
Nor the regular passenger service either.
I believe the only line in Scotland that has a bit of a question mark at the moment is the line from Ayr to Stranraer.
Building the new Port Ryan isn't going to help passenger numbers either
Have a read if you want

Re: Help naming the line
The whole Stranraer thing does seem like a silly policy decision to me.
I reckon branchlines in general are likely to be at risk in the next few years, and the WHL would be a good target - seems unlikely to break even, and is relatively lightly used, while road connections up to Mallaig have been massively improved in recent years.
