I made a 256x256 map of Amsterdam and the surrounding area. It's based on a heightmap and watermap, with some modifications by me.
The area extends to Haarlem in the west, Hilversum in the south-east and Purmerend in the north-east (for those of you who are familair with the area). The cities are placed manually by looking at a map a lot, and the industries are also placed manually, based on actual industry in that area. This means there is no oil, because this part of the country doesn't have any oil. You have a factory in Zaandam, a few power plants near Amsterdam Sloterdijk, and a steelmill in Ijmuiden (corus), for example.
The map is mostly passenger-centered, but you can make a profit with the farms or the woodcutting industries too if you want. It's large enough for a realistic railroad system, with most of the stations in the right place. Some cities might be more or less in the wrong place, if you feel something is really wrong feel free to post in this thread.
I uploaded a screenshot and the scn file, have fun!
Because I felt that the map was still a a bit too small (especially for the Amsterdam metro system) I'm now working on a 512x512 version. I might finish it, I might not.

Re: [OTTD] Amsterdam 256x256
Although I haven't played it extendedly yet, I do have to say it definitely looks like a good map
What also helps is the fact my home town is in it too

Big thanks go out to Purno, DJ Nekkid, Hyronymus and all the other developers for the lovely Dutch stuff in OpenTTD, keep it coming!

Het spijt me, maneer, but where do we download the extra GRF's for A'dam specific industries? There must be some brown cafes and window shops to accept all those ECS tourists, niet waar?leofox wrote:I made a 256x256 map of Amsterdam and the surrounding area. The GRFs are Dutch trains, stations and catenary.
You can disable the GRFs in the newGRF settings menu, they aren't really needed anyway. If you want them you can find them at http://users2.tt-forums.net/dutchset/.
