32bpp not working
Hello
First, thanks to everybody who is working on this. I played this game many years ago and love to see people dedicating their time so selflessly.
Anyway, I have been salivating at the 32bpp images, but unfortunately have been unable to get it to work. The game works fine, but there is no hint that the new images are even detected, or that the game itself recognizes any changes. I am using the Nightly build, and have copied the TAR files from the full pack, as well as the base pack's extracted files, the former to /data, the latter to data/sprites. I also changed the openttd.cfg file, as instructed. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks a lot!

Re: 32bpp not working
You didn't really specify, but if you want 32bpp Extra Zoom Levels, you need a special patch. If you want normal 32bpp, you need to start openttd.exe with -b=32bpp-optimized.waboo386 wrote:I am using the Nightly build

Re: 32bpp not working
Also, remember to download the latest opengfx from the online content server and activate them in the Options menu. It took nearly an hour to find out that was the reason it didn't work at my place.
I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?
Re: 32bpp not working
"-b=32bpp-optimized"
Are you referring to the blitter variable in the openttd.cfg file? Thanks

Re: 32bpp not working
No, this is what you have to add to the command line (or to the link of the shortcut most of the time) right after openttd.exe.

Re: 32bpp not working
there is a 32bpp full zoom project which requires the patched version (just see the other threads or click my sig)
or there is the 32bpp graphics which is pointless because its offering a minimal improvement over 8bpp graphics and that why there is almost nothing for it, all the recent work that you may have noticed its for the 32Bpp full zoom version.

Re: 32bpp not working
Okay thanks. How do I do that, by the way? I can't figure out exactly where I'm supposed to add this in the shortcut.
Re: 32bpp not working
just click my sig and see the last part of the installation section (its the same for both)
there is also the packs that require no configuration at all.

- Go to Start -> Run
- Type "cmd" and press enter
- Type "cd C:\Path\to\openttd\openttd.exe -b=32bpp-optimized and press enter

Sorry, try again withwaboo386 wrote:"Failed to request blitter '=32bpp-optimized'"
Code: Select all
-b 32bpp-optimized
Re: 32bpp not working
It loaded this time, but for some reason the game doesn't look any different. I suppose I should go with the patch, huh?
Thanks again

Re: 32bpp not working
Did you follow the instructions I gave you about activating opengfx? Also, try putting the 32bpp tar files directly insite the program files\openttd\data folder rather than in my documents\openttd\content_download\data. That worked for me.waboo386 wrote:It loaded this time, but for some reason the game doesn't look any different. I suppose I should go with the patch, huh?

Last thing, to change the shortcut, simply right click it, click proprieties, then change the "target" field.

Re: 32bpp not working
