New DBS Stobart 66 derailed in Scotland

DBS class 66 no 66048 James the Engine has derailed in Carrbridge, Scotland while on its first revenue-earning serice in the new Stobart livery. This is now rumored to be the first 66/0 to go to the scrapheap. Full news story in Railway Magazine March 10 issue.

And I would also say that 66s have been involved in worse accidents and been re-engineered. And Eddie Stobart will be wanting a return - this was genuinely only in Stobart livery for about a week! I've got a photo of it newly painted in a three-66 consist at Bescot!

DBS also have a 92 in Stobart livery, so we can still see an all-stobart train.

Don't think the driver had much chance. Track had become incredibly icy, although a relative of mine (to remain anonymous please) works for DB and what I'd heard through rumours was a lot less than what he told me, even though he's based in the south.

Well supposedly the 66 suffered brake failure and the driver was, as a result, sounding the horn constantly down the incline in to Carrbridge loop before being derailed by the catch points.
