Glasgow amfibus

Post by Kevo00 »

Stagecoach are trialling an amphibious bus in Glasgow to replace the Renfrew ferry which is scheduled for closure next month. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/gla ... 505770.stm Apparently there have been a few problems with it, but it would be cool if they brought it into use. Anyone ever done the London duck tour? I've always meant to get round to it, but it is certainly the case that the technology is proven. Are there any other potential bus routes that could be run with amphibious buses?

Saw this on the news this lunchtime, looks quite a curious thing, but would probably be fun to go on!

I dunno... given most other Stagecoach buses I've encountered I wouldn't rate the chances of it staying afloat much after the first year or so...

And if it does sink you can't exactly jump over board...

I suspect it would have to be fully complaint with maritime safety board rules, with sufficient provision for evacuation in an emergency.
