ECS Vectors??

Post by Rick D »

Hi There,

Just picking up Open TTD again after a short break (I can't believe how a game from so log ago is still being customised and modified, its amazing!!)

Last time I played there was no such thing as ECS Vectors, so its almost lie a completely new way of playing for me, can anyone point me in the direction of a user guide for the new new system (if one exists), I'd like to read up on how it works, what all the figures mean when you click on industries etc. If not would you be able to answer a few questions

Thanks

Rick

Is there also one for the many different types of signals. I can work out one way and two way, but there seems to be seo many more since i last played, and whats with the number box in within the signal construction window...

http://wiki.openttd.org/Signals

There is also a forum thread dedicated to ECS which most likely has most answers to your questions. I cannot find it now, but a search should do the trick.

Thanks Alberth

i have another question re the vectors, not sure if this is explained in the guide, but i couldnt find it;

My industries started closing (which i know is normal behaviour), but i dont want that to happen, so i changed the parameter on all ecs vectors to 13 (which means IIRC no stockpile limit, no closure of mines, no closure of serviced industries), but my industries are still closing. I changed the parameters mid game, does this make a difference?

Thanks Noticon, I have read that, thats where I got the info to change the parameters, but it doesnt seem to work. I set the ECS parameters to 13 for all different ECS vectors but the industries were still closing. what I don't is if industries stop announcing closure after 24 months once this has been activated, or whether it stops all industries closing, even ones that have started the 24 month countdown.

Its not really a problem, more a misunderstanding of how it works that doesnt seem to be covered in the manual. Was just asking advice from other, more experienced users. :)

That thread was made for exactly those reasons (problems and questions).

think there is an extra parameter in a few of those ECS vectors you need to look them up each on that site and see if they have an extra parameter iirc there is at least two that have an extra
