not ohio, but tortilla land. seriously ohio is not flatter then Ashley Olsen chest, and does not have cities out in the middle of an lake. just my input.
Actually there are Island in the middle of lake Erie with cities on them So, if you don't like it too bad. Its not exact. Have andel make it exact. I'm sure He'll wanna do it.
looks like state park to me called kellys state island park ? i must be smoking what plastik been selling me? closest to an city in the lake is an peninsula which has a town called marble head and port clinton. i highly recommend google maps when making a map. but this is why i refuse to do maps outside of north america, i know nothing about the area i don't touch them. :D

http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=41.58 ... 2&t=h&z=11

now if this was labeled as imaginary ohio then i wouldn't matter :D

I think these islands are what he's trying to replicate:

little villages not cities. if he really shrunk them down it might work, curve the coasts (would look cool), but looks like ferry service and tiny airport service the area. cities certainly not. if built the pen and put port clinton, and had the island as tiny land masses that would work well.

dude no offense. One thing that bugs the heck out of me, is when people release flat maps and expect it to be excellent. To me that is easy way out. it you put the time into the landscape as you did with the towns/cities the map would rock. I don't care if the hills are boxy, as long you build a landscape that is somewhat close to the area. Ohio is not a huge passenger network like europe is. Cleveland and the other large cities have their local transit and amtrack does have some routes through the state. But what is huge is freight, between coal in the east, and some in the south, there used to be steel mills before the big steel crash. and farming is huge in the state.

you have to pick a goal on what you want to do with the map. plastik already made a map of this and industry was huge on it.

Do what i do get A LOT of images from the area that you are working in, easy to get from the internet. trace the area on goodge map and start creating the map from your references. it is time consuming but the result is very satisifying.

me and plastik spend hours over images and maps to get things right, and it pays off.

I think the problem is that those that replied have their opinions and voiced them without much thought on what could be done to improve the map. Agreed that flat maps can be boring and over mountainous ones can be too much for others. The object of have the game is to enjoy and share what you've done (if you choose) with others. When releasing any work everyone should be prepared for less than complimentary comments, and/or adjustments to their work by the downloaders. Don't give up creating and sharing. I don't release much of my work because I seldom finish what I'm doing.
