Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
This is a unpatched 0.7.2 with the Patch in the folder...
Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
No... I had patched it and it worked. It even compiled properly.

Sure...?petert wrote:No... I had patched it and it worked. It even compiled properly.
But I cannot controvert until a plane has crashed

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
I wouldnt call it "dirty little hack", but "desync patch" for air users.
If you dont understand, I will try to explain.
You build an airport. Your client sent data to server that you build an airport.
You buy an airplane. Your client sent data to server that you bought an airplane.
Your airplane loads some passangers and takeoff. Nothing to sent.
Your airplane lands and makes some profit. Your client is still sending no data to server. (At least, I dont think, maybye its checking balance with server? )
You want that plane to go to another route so you change his orders. Desync. On server-side your airplane is crasched, but not for you, because your client made another calculation.

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
Well, in multiplayer its a de-sync patch, but in singleplayer its a nice easy patch.
@Timmaexx: I checked, I had modified some code with the patch by SirkoZ, and it worked properly.

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
Make it a server side setting then. Single player will be the same as now, and in multiplayer, all parties are guaranteed to have the same settings -> problem solved.
edit: just looked at the patch - I was misled, it doesn't have a setting at all. Just don't use a patched client with unpatched servers, if you changed anything that goes beyond GUI. Heck, you shouldn't EVER use a patched client to connect to a vanilla server, unless you really really know what you're doing.
Patched server & patched clients -> all is fine.

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
Your first problem is that you're failing to report the error messages.Dante123 wrote:i still keep getting problems when i try to compile the .patch into a new openttd.exe
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
I don't understand what the problem is. If I play a single player game my least problem is making money.sc79 wrote:...I'm doubtful you'll see it in trunk any time soon. Currently, crashes are the only negative aspect of aircraft in comaprison to the other transport methods...
Who cares if I make 400 Millions or 800 Millions Euros a year? I'm just a fan of aircraft and I can imagine it to be quite interesting to build up an airline for example with cargodist.
If somebody likes the challage of replacing a plane every minute he could leave the switch off. Or if that is necessary in multiplayer (which I understand!) then the host enables crashes but why not let the player decide?

The problem with aircraft is not even the income. I had an A380 (the AV8 one) travelling on a 1024 map and it made about 385.000 € with 550 passengers. If I ignore the mail it carries thats about 700€ per passanger. For a trip around the whole world that sounds realistic (maybe a bit too high but don't foreget the mail and that the average price is higher because of first- and businss class seats! With only economy it would carry about 800 pax).
I think that the low running costs and cheap buying prices are the biggest problem making the planes much more unrealistic and "cash cows" than "no plane crashes" would!
Ottd is very much fun to play and I think you did a good job developing it but I would like it very much if an option to set the crash rate to "what it is now", "reduced" or "no crashes at all" would be implemented.

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
I agree with you Zero the no plane crashes should be in the trunk. I like building up a large airline. But when you have a lot of aircraft it is a real hassle to replace them. And sometimes you don't even know which aircraft crashed.

Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
It should be at least in the latest nightly since yexo made this change approx. 2 days ago.

The changes to OpenTTD trunk can be found here: http://hg.openttd.org/openttd/trunk.hg/wozzar wrote:Where about will i find this. Do you have a link. And also is it in Binary. The revision number (18942) means that any nightly you download with a number higher than that has that feature. As time of this post, the newest nightly is r18968, so go get it.
Re: [REQUEST] plane crash off//on (or reduction)
Just an note - No airplane crashes are available in trunk (as Roujin said), but they will also be available in 1.0.0.wozzar wrote:Where about will i find this. Do you have a link. And also is it in Binary. If not could you please make a binary.
