Should the AI section on the wiki adopt a coding style?

No, people should just make examples in whatever style suites them.

Poll: Should the AI section of the wiki have a "style"

Post by Dustin »

Is this worth making recomendations about? I think our target audience is new-ish programmers, since vets can make sense of whatever.
I have made some edits to make things consistent there but now that I think about it, we should gain some consensus. Please vote and comment.

If you're happy to moderate it then I'm happy to roll with whatever style you want :P

I think it is good that the pages on the wiki are written in the same style. I voted for the OpenTTD coding style so that new users don't have to go too far to see it.

-Not every body use Visual Studio
-Not every body Googlish
-Not every body like your style

But we are here because OpenTTD, so I'll go to OpenTTD C++ style

Very well said :)

Since the majority voted for "OpenTTD coding style" I've fixed the coding style on all pages in the NoAI category.

Well that's settled. I dislike hanging braces myself. Never could read them well.

OpenTTD (not TDD) -> C++ style.

Google is not a standard, it's a corporation.
Own style? Possibly not very readable, as fanioz wrote.
Visual Studio is not a standard, it's a product.

And you are confusing Xander. You quote me and comment on SirkoZ. Plus I value any opinions on this topic. I don't think 1 day is long enough to really call it totally settled. I am confident in our ability to discuss the issue for the next decade and learn new things and never get nasty.

@Sirkoz, Read the links. You are of course technically correct, but I wanted to keep the descriptions short for the poll.
