This way. That way....decisions, decisions.
I begin fieldwork as you know, at the end of July, so I am going to book my train tickets now...earlier the better, cheaper fares and all that. I'm off to the Isle of Man and am going to catch the ferry from Liverpool with some of my friends who are going as well. The ferry leaves at Half 11, don't really want to have to paid the expense of a hotel so it means leaving Peterborough quite early in the morning.
The original plan was:
Peterborough: 06.10
Birmingham: 08.03
Birmingham: 08.36
Liverpool: 10.09
Total Cost: £34.30
But I was doing some investimigatings...my revised plan is:
Peterborough: 06.10
London KX: 07.00
Walk from London King's Cross to London Euston (Simples)
London E: 08.07
Liverpool: 10:15
Total Cost: £25.25
So I going via London I get into Liverpool some 6 minutes later and gives me a saving of some £9.01.
No brainer then. London route ftw?

You'll have to watch out for that early morning train from PBO possibly is it normally massively overcrowded?

If he books that P'boro train it won't matter if its overcrowded - I'm assuming, given the time that its NXEC not FCC?
I'd go the London route myself, because its probably less likely to get delayed than the B'ham route. And its £9 cheaper.

More fun via London - you don't want to be stuck on a VERY overcrowded 2-coach CrossCountry Turdostar for half of your journey!

I'd go via London. If you can have more less there then go for it.

London way it is. Mind you, still not looking foward to having to get up at like half 4 in the morning, but oh well. Pendolino, woop woop.

Re: This way. That way....decisions, decisions.
I've got a bit of a query...
I'm travelling back to Wales in 9 days and want to get there as cheap as possible, HUL - CWB is £100.09 for an off peak return, there are no advance tickets left.
I am planning to go HUL - HUD by bus, and then train it from there, (about £40 for an off peak return) has anybody got any suggestions, or is going to Huddersfield the cheapest I can do?
Edit: there are 2 of us travelling, and we have a Disabled Railcard

surely that's better than getting a bus (or several buses) across Yorkshire? That'd take hours and hours, and it'd be horrible... Besides, once you get to Leeds TPE run all night cos of the Airport trains.

With a student railcard TPEx were offering ridiculous deals on some services including Preston-Manchester for 1.50, Man-Hudds for 2.00, etc. etc. etc.
