I know, it used to be my local tube station. Hence my point that trains running westward to the station cannot turn as Shadow suggests, only those running eastward. Eastbound districts frequently terminate there and its the bane of my life lol.
I am not suggesting Whitechapel to be most busiest ending of Circle Line, even one/two trains per 10 minutes should be enough, and those four platforms will be more than enough. I suppose Whitechapel can get some smaller or bigger remodel during East London Line development.
Thank you very much for your email of 29 June regarding potential changes to the Circle line service. I read your suggestions with interest.
As you know, we are planning to change the route of the Circle line from December, to extend it along the present Hammersmith & City line tracks to Hammersmith. Trains will start from Hammersmith and run to Edgware Road, and then loop once around the circle via Aldgate and Victoria before terminating at Edgware Road. They will then make the same journey in the reverse direction.
This plan is the first part of a three stage upgrade of the entire Sub-Surface network (the District, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines). It will pave the way for the introduction of new air-conditioned trains between 2010 and 2015 and the subsequent commissioning of a new state of the art signalling system. Without the new Circle line route it would not be possible to implement the full capacity increase that will be enabled by the new trains and signalling. In addition, the new route will almost double the frequency of services between Hammersmith and Paddington and help combat reliability problems on the Circle line.
Your suggestion for two further ‘lassos’ to Whitechapel and Earl’s Court was interesting, however I think that operating three ‘lassos’ on the Circle line would be too operationally complex, and would cause unreliability to rise. It could also be confusing for customers. It’s worth noting that all of the services you propose are already covered by other lines – for example the connection between the new East London line at Whitechapel and King’s Cross will be provided by the Hammersmith & City line.
Regarding your suggestion to merge the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines, this is something we considered but we felt that the two lines were well established and liked by Londoners, and therefore we wanted to preserve their distinct identities.
Thank you once again for writing. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Yours sincerely,

like I thought: what people got used to is very important
So they are not merging the two lines are was the original plan?
Circle Line: Hammersmith - Edgware Road (via Edgware Road) as was the original plan. But are keeping the Hammersmith and City Line running from Hammersmith to Barking as it continues to do so.
So...creating reliability/efficiency of the 'circle' line and increasing the amount of trains on the Hammersmith Line.
Sounds good to me.
Ukončete, prosím, výstup a nástup, dveře se zavírají
Ah - so there H&C is not going to be scrapped after all. Looks as if we all jumped to conclusions!
So will this be shown on the map as a double-line stretching through from Paddington to Hammersmith?
Any opinions expressed are purely mine and not that of any employer, past or present.
I never read anywhere that it was gonna be scrapped, the map shown in the .pdf on the first page just shows the circle proposals. The H&C being scrapped would remove the direct City - Barking link which could only be achieved by changing at Tower Hill for the District or walking from Aldgate to Aldgate East.
