Is it possible to turn this off by a parameter? (Or would that be too much work for too little effeckt and too less people who use it but much more who dislike it?(what a sentence...))

Purator
Nope, no parameteres as far as I know
Oh, I think I didnÄt say it clear enough *shame*

More likely that the whole HEP feature will be replaced by simple wagon running costs in a future version.

Well, imho this would be a very bad idea. I really like the Idea of HEP, so it should be expanded, for example, in the 1920/1930 in Germany there were several heating wagons ("Heizwagen") built, to help the locomotion heating long trains or in the winter --> http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heizwagen or http://bdw002.privat.t-online.de/868/86 ... zwagen.htm (what a great feature for the DBSet this would be *dreaming*). In Israel, there are still such waggons in use, but for cooling instead of heating.

Within the USA, when bilevel commuter coaches came out, some railroads converted old heavyweight commuter cars to HEP. I have a book that shows pictures of a CB&Q commuter train, with a HEP coach on the tail end. This was before they bought cab control cars.

CB&Q at least bought their first bilevels in 1950, but didn't get cab control cars until the mid 1960s. Until they had locomotives that could provide HEP, they had to use generator cars at the inbound end of the trains/

Aye there were dedicated steam generator cars in the US too, a lot of F-units didn't come with steam generators onboard so they had to carry one in the consist. Amtrak had no money and usually just threw an E-unit rebuilt without traction motors or an engine on the head end when they needed steam heating. OpenTTD only gets heating from the front car in a consist though, so unless you put your steam generator at the front of the train it doesn't actually do anything but add horsepower - which a steam car has none, so it's not helping.

Totally unrelated note, but thinking about Amtrak rebuilds makes me want a Metroliner cab car to run single-level cars in push-pull mode. It's just a copy & paste job from the bilevel too :p

It's not only that locomotion - have a look at the mail car!

Enh! Wrong! 1) Its locomotive! 2) That mail car is ment to look like a NPCU aka a Cabbage unit, basically its a older or defunt loco that has its engine(s) removed and made to hold luggage and can be used to control the train hence the name Non-powered Control Unit. Though not A LOT of railways do this as most just either use a locomotive at each end (or a multiple unit) or use cab equiped bi levels ( like GO Transits Bi Levels, though since I dont pay attention to the trains around here I dunno if they really do have them)

But yeah, the FM-Traim Master, the SD45 and the GE Genesis all have incorrect buying sprits, and also, the E8 sometimes when it reverses the graphic for the front engine turns into a Bi Level Cab even when theres only regular mail and passenger. When I can ill post a screen shot next time I see it.

Sorry, it's a very nice false friend...

Found that bug I was taling about, putting two E-units together makes this happen when they go in reversed direction...
Those aren't even Bi-Levels and its doing this...

Anyone have a clue how Michael Blunck's DB coach graphics are used there? Do you have the DBSet loaded too?

If not, something is very strange about this.

Crap, it is that, damn it >_>

Can't you do something so that the Trains compatible with Bi Levels and Bi Levels have some sort of way of making it so that the engine graphics change only with the bi levels

Um, a suggestion for when the Bombardier Bi Levels are avilibe ( around 1980's) , they should at least carry 136 Passengers ( according to Wikipedia). As for the Super Liner/Surf Liner Coaches, they should hold a max of 74 People (again, acording to Wikipedia)

Very rarely are real passenger values modelled in TTD. It just wouldn't make it playable.

yeah but I think 68 passengers is a little low, especially when attaching Bi Levels to somehting like the F40PH or the GE Genesis, they take 200 HP from the Train it self, which brings up another idea/suggestion

Why not add a parameter to disable HEP or at least on just for the HEP from Traction Motor Trains so that passenger and bilevel cars wont take HP

Well, I would do it another way:

A switch which changes "realistic" and "in-game balanced" capaticities for the waggons.

So maybe, have it either 68, 80 or 136? I think that could work ^^ though in reality, only the bombardier Bi Levels are the ones with 136 (minimum) where as the Super Liners have 76

That sounds nice!

And in addition, the switch could work like the "regearing" switch, so that the capaticity can be changed "DB-Set"-like.

Oh nice! Not only would that knock off A LOT of coding, but that would make it so you can make it more like a real life train with Business class, 1st Class and 2nd Class ^_^
