For map I’m using - UK renewal set – to build good trains from the start.
It’s not my first map, but those are lost somewhere at 97

The projection itself is rather west-east stretched , that’s because real maps are not ideally square as maps in TT, but I did want to include main cities of country and most interesting places of region, like Black Sea cost, Kavkaz, Volga river. Nevertheless all scales and distances are kept in accurate proportions. Russia is flat with few central silly heights, and with Kavkaz on south and Carpat Mountains on south-west.
Industries are placed normally, balanced, means that they are not only where they are in real world(it would be odd) but spread on map. Still real resources are here, and Russia of course have plenty of them - tons of grain and livestock along the Black Soil Line, Coal and Ore Basins, uncounted forests and of course – oil. Processing industries like steel plant or sawmill or factories, have to be placed directly in major cities, but to avoid odd transportation things in game i placed them just a bit away from their real spots.
That is the map I used for TTmap borders and for cities names, and they are in English for community.
As can be seen cities names are rather archaic(if someone knows present ones) and thus map starts at 1921, where despite revolution and civil war Russia have already plenty of railroads, by the virtue of reformers like Sergei Vitte and others. Actually Russia already have 2nd longest railroad system in the world after US those days. So no amusing to build many RR, which strangely can not be build with vanilla OTTD

Of course anyone can edit map in whatever variations you want, by date, or something else.
Hope you’d like
