Hi guys,
my friend and I are having some issues creating a multiplayer game online. We tried it via Hamachi as network solution, but that's not going to work all the time. So I was wondering if you could help us finding the problem.
Scenario 1:
Person A creates game (Hamachi running), Person B joins in via network, finds the game right away
Scenario 2:
Person A creates game (Hamachi NOT running), Person B doesn't find the server in the server list
-- there is no change between LAN/Internet or Internet (advertise) --
We tried it on different PCs/Networks, with and without firewall. Is there something we're doing wrong?
Is there something like a dedicated server (not necessarily linked the this topic) and I haven't found it yet?
I hope my description was a help... any ideas?
Cheers
Philippe

Re: Multiplayer issues --> can't find the server
Sounds like the classic: "I've got a router (that I don't know about) that does NAT and I haven't forwarded the ports"-issue.
Re: Multiplayer issues --> can't find the server
Okay, so maybe the DSL Modem has a Router, good point, will check that. Thanks.
Re: Multiplayer issues --> can't find the server
Ok, solved it, in fact my modem has a router included which blocked it... at least on my side, still no clue why my friend's server wasn't shown.
Thanks for your help though!
